Shower faucet handles.

I boon-dock now and then, or as in the case next week, will be in a camp ground with water and electric but no sewer. In order to save grey tank space I had put a valve between the shower head and hose in order to turn the water off while soaping and back on to the same temp to rinse. I also have an early model oxygenic shower head. Problem is the valve and shower head weigh to much and slowly tilts forward until it points at the wall! The valve weighs the most, I took it off and the shower head does not fall. My problem is, how can I put the valve between the handles and the hose? I can not screw it on because the valve handle hit the back wall. I cannot figure out how to pull the handles off the wall to instal the valve then reinstall the handles, and is it really worth it? I could just use the handles and memorize where they need to be

I think you might have an access panel behind the shower wall, where you can loosen the handles enough to screw on your adapter. If you don't, I wonder how the manufacturer expects to service the valve?

On another note - the hot and cold water don't seem to stay mixed correctly when I turn this little guy off for a minute or two. I waste water getting the temp right again. The secret is to let it run very slightly, never shut off completely, which will keep the temp right.

Some of them are built to leak a little to accomplish the same thing.

After you close the shut off valve, turn off hot water handle.

Turn on hot water handle before opening shut off valve.

Greatly reduces time for water to return to proper temp.

I have looked for the access panel but don't see one. I will look around some more in case I am missing the obvious.

Found it, sure blends in well but naturally it is right behind the faucet, in the bedroom linen closet. Was covered by towels but pretty obvious. I will check it out later.

Mike,
Here's a low profile shut-off valve I used on the same faucet in my 31IKE, it screws right on without hitting the wall.

I notice this one sez, "reduces water flow to a trickle." Some people complain that theirs leaks. But I think this leak is to maintain the correct water temperature.

Those are awesome, I will buy one of them and not worry about removing the handles, thanks! It is my understanding that new codes call for it to drip somewhat, I thought it was something to do with the pressure, never made much sense to me, maybe it is to do with the temp.
