My fresh water tank was "growing " water. Every time I checked my SeeLevel gauge for fresh water reading the number kept getting higher. The problem was the check valve in the water pump. When hooked up to shore water it was bypassing the check valve and going into the fresh water tank. I got Shurflo to send me a check valve and associated parts to do the repair. Easy enough job......the hardest part was getting all those darn totes out of the basement to gain access to the pump. In my opinion, removing the pump is the best way to do this job. I simply worked on it on a work bench (kitchen table top with a blanket covering the top!!!!!). I'll let the pix do the talking. As you can see the check valve had a cut like area that created a "thread like" piece causing the leak. Seems is all back to well.
Posted in hopes it helps someone else down the line that may have this issue.

Good writeup Rockin', thanks for sharing as you would say...having a older unit without all that new equipment, it's good to have someone on top of this stuff....
Here is a link that I posted a long time ago that mentioned it...
Boy a person could get lost in there with all those wires and plumbing....

Thanks work. If I knew you were lookin' here, I'd vacuumed the utility center!!!
I didn't mention it but I also put a mouse pad between the pump and the floor for noise reduction. My pump already has soft rubber mounting so it didn't make any difference. Actually I have my 2088 pretty darn quiet with all the pipe wrap I already put down. That quieted it down about 80% from the factory setup. I can hardly hear the pump run from the kitchen. You can only get it so quiet. I've been in some rigs where it sounds like a jack hammer going off. rockin'

You're just showing off that fancy basement flooring.
Tho I was impressed with all them kewl titles and arrows. Maybe we should call you Picassaboy.
Thanks tho. I will store this thread in my memory banks. With my history of repairs, this will surely come up.

What would it take for PI to come up with a mechanical utility basement that is organized instead of looking like they were in a hurry to git-r-done?

Are the 2088 Classic pumps being put in all new Excel's as our 30RSO 2007 Classic has a 5.7 extreme series the 5.7 is specifically designed to provide larger RV’s with “Just Like Home” flow and pressure to drastically improve the performance of Showers, Toilets, Sinks, Washing Machines, Dishwashers and Whole-House Filtration units. The 2088 I believe is ShuFlos entry level pump with 2.8 gallons per minute versus 5.7 per minute with the extreme. Just courious what PI is up to these days as when we trade I would upgrade the pump I do beleive, any thoughts

Paul,
Wow....it's been a long time since we've heard from you!!! The Classic is standard and the 5.7 is the optional pump. I had the 5.7 on the first Excel and it worked flawlessly. Loved it. Many folks don't believe me cause the 5.7 had lots and lots of major sensor issues and would quit in a minute. You hear of folks that have had 4-5 replacements. I guess I just got lucky. I believe Shurflo has finally got the issues resolved, but the reputation continues to live on......it took them too long for get the issues resolved......that's my story and I'm sticking to it. My Classic really ain't bad overall.....just a little noiser compared to the 5.7 and volume isn't that of 5.7......simple as that. rockin'

Tom, I dont recall having upgraded to the Extreme Series from PI and the only problem we've had was when I did not pump a little anti freeze in pump only air to blow the lines out and yes it froze and was leaking when dewinterized thats when I learned of the price diffrence and installation modifacations these pumps can have. I think it is also worth noting the Classic pumps are much more available in your average rv stores only one in Minot of three stores had the Exterme w/correct fittings to replace ours and of course paid a premium but could not wait to have one shipped. I see now Wal Mart even carries the classic pump always seem to learn something here
