Well folks I guess I got my money's worth out of my teflon slick disk.....it's now gone thru 3 rigs and almost 7 years of use. The poor ol' thing got so it would fall off when I unhitched. Stopped by a CW and they had them on sale for $7.99....not bad! I had heard some horror stories about them having premature failure in my early days of FTing. Folks told me they would split and break into pieces, etc. I guess if you get tough with it, that may be a problem. Not so with mine. Anyone have any stories on theirs? rockin'

We used the TFE disc on a 5er for a bunch of years and sold it with the original disc on it and the spare in the locker.

I guess I'm not as tight as Washout. I have always left the disc on the rig when I trade and put a new one on when I buy a new rig. Having a Brinkley head on my Trailersaver hitch, I have never had a problem that some folks have with tearing up the disc. They make an thin disc because a lot of folks were having problem with the thick disc. I use silicone lube on my disc at least once a month or sooner if I'm pulling for several days in a row.

Not all disc are made the same. I did have one that lost it's grip on the king pin and would fall off when unhooked.

We're still using the disk we bought with our first Excel back in '04, when we use our SOB Toy Hauler I just pull it off and switch to the other rig. Other than a bit of paint and rust stain it looks the same as new!

RockheadTommie, since they were only $8, can I expect one in the mail? I know you were just not thinking of yourself, were you?
