I am getting ready to hit the road tomorrow and I was just thinking about the things I have forgotten on the rams of my slide outs. Fishing rods twice and transmitter for my weather station. Sliding out a full gallon of water and it went up like a volcano. I have never forgotten any doors (knock on wood ) You guys got any of you’re forgets to share? Book2

Oh B2....we've all forgotten something....In the early days, I forgot to raise the rear stabilizers first and couldn't figure out why the nose wasn't rising to hitch up! Didn't take long to figure that one out.

Another one...Donna didn't get the marks lined up on the manual antenna and when she lowered it...it didn't come down all the way. It wasn't up very high, but I did notice it on our first fuel stop on my walk around!

I'm not admiting to anymore right now....waiting to hear of other goofy deals. We've all done them...or we haven't been RVing!

Reading what you have here I can think of 2 things we have done, the first time we took out cat camping with us we were getting ready to leave and I brought the bedroom slide in and as I was outside packing up the electric and water and the slide came back out I went in the ask Cheri what was going on and she was trying to get the cat out from behind the bed. I guess it was so scared from being trapped it didn't want to come out.

Just before we left for Quartzsite the camper as home 3 days and I was trying to connect the truck and couldn't get it to lock in, after 3 or 4 tries of lifting and dropping a bit I looked close and found that at some point the hitch was locked closed and I had to unlock it.

Or like I did one time, putting the slide out and forgot to check if anything was between the wall and the slide.

I heard a huge explosion and found out what a 2 liter bottle of soda sounds like blowing up. Thankfully the neck was pointed down toward the tray under the slide so nothing was in the rig.

Well, we've owned 3 5th wheels with slideouts in the last 13 years. Off the top of my head, I can remember:

1. A cabinet door - bent the hinge and, despite my efforts, that thing always looked cockeyed after that.

2. A blade on a ceiling fan.

3. Miscellaneous dog toys.

4. Not ours, but the worst I can remember is when a friend ran a wine bottle through the wall of their 5th wheel.

I ripped the door to the bedroom/bath right off two if it's hinges. Here is the bad part...you have to stand "in" that door to activate the slide controls. After that Miss Jo decided she would bring in and let out the slides.

Hold on now...I just want to clarify something right now. It wasn't me!!!! You all know I don't allow drinking in our rig (well just before church anyway!!!!)

We usually leave the spare rv keys inside the pinbox (for reasons I won't go into). Drove from Little Rock to Boerne,TX last year and keys were still in the pinbox. Testament to the smoothness of Glide Ride pinbox. I have a collection of flattened plastic wheel chaulks. I have worn out a harness that wasn't connected to truck. Would have towed away w/ the antenna up on two occasion had it not been for helpful observers. Forgot about a 12-pack of soda under the dinette until after several had frozen and "opened on their own".

1. Dish receiver slipped out a bit from ent. cabinet next to slide wall while traveling. When I opened the slide, the receiver caught the edge of slide wood fascia trim and popped it off. Receiver has strong metal cabinet.
2. Drove out of campground and left my still-erect TV antenna dangling from an overhead cable.
3. Opened slideout forgetting outside basement door was still open. Have 3" scrape mark on door now.
4. Probably have half dozen mud rugs left at various campgrounds.
I could go on, but it would just further prove what the DW already thinks of me now.

One gallon of water and the laptop case when opening the slide. Luckily the laptop was not in the case. Got the entertainment cabinet door once when retracting the slide.

The bathroom door must be closed before bringing the kitchen slide in or it hits the refrigerator. I put a BIG red sign next to the switches that says "CLOSE THE DOOR!"

Now I make sure that nothing is in the way before putting out or retracting the slides.

This are good! I have forgotten about having one of the basement doors open, but I only broke the latch, maybe four times. I made it ok this time but I keep forgetting that darn pocket door strap. Evan 0810, I too know how things well ride. Last summer when I went to one of the hurricanes, there was a water bottle with less than a fourth in it on the pedestal of the digger derrick I was driving. So I thought lets see how far this will ride before blowing off, it made it from Mount Pleasant, Iowa to Baton Rouge, La. Over a 1000 miles!!! Book2

The rear jacks have given me a problem. Forgot to raise one and bent it. On another occasion drug one off going up an incline. Most expensive.
