Whenever I bring in the parlor and dinnette slides I have to make 3 or 4 trips back to adjust the fan blades. If I don't the blades hit the slide and break off. I had one break when I rushed through bringing in the slides due to tornadoe sirens. Does anyone else have this problem or ideas on how to fix...besides carrying spare blades??
We have an 06 30RSO Limited that we bought used.

Do you have to tilt the blades for slide to clear? My slide (newmar Kountryaire)clears the fan (factory installed-partially recessed into ceiling). Is the fan loose on the mounting?

Loralie,

We used to have an '05 FLR and we had the same issue. I never broke a blade, but I have made one flex pretty good. The PDI tech almost broke it on our first time in the rig. I believe all the new rigs don't have that issue anymore (there's clearance built in). I don't really have a solution other than incorporate canting the fan blade prior to closing the slide into your routine. You know.....just like you walk to the both ends of the slides before every opening and closing. It's just a good practice. It's amazing what falls down there or what door pops open on a roadtrip. Good luck. Sorry I don't have any "silver bullet" repair for ya! rockin'

If I remember correctly it also helps to shut the power down to the fan so it is not turning as your are sliding your slide outs.....

Our fan is recessed and we haven't had a slide clearance problem yet, however when our PDI tech first demonstrated the use of the fan he emitted a four letter word as two blade screws fell out onto the floor! Now I check all of the screws every 30 days as they seem to work themselves lose automatically.

Us working folks use lock tight, we're to busy that we don't need 30 day chores...

2,200 miles of travel between workamping jobs usually nets enough vibration to require a new dose of it!

We have an 06 30RSO Limited that we bought used.
On my 2001, my fan is surfaced mounted and is on the Entertainment slide side of the unit. The clearance is enough that I haven't had a problem. I have noticed and corrected the problem with the blades...because of the age, 10 years old, and possibly due to age and the heat when stored, the blades aquired a droop. Not much but was noticable.

Might check if this is part of your problem as well as anything that might be loose. But then again it might be that you have to ensure the blades are in a certain position when the slide is retracted....I know I could remember that.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. We checked out a couple of the ideas and nothing seems to match and I do turn off the fan!! (silly guy)
But...Rockin what do you mean by "canting" the blades? All I have to do is lift them up and over the top of the slide as it is rising..the last inch in.
Glad none of you have this issue..it isn't terrible, just a small nuisance. But I thought maybe there was some answer....

Canting to me means you postition the blade so that the top of the slide doesn't contact the blade....or another words, just move the blade so it doesn't make contact. That was the way it was on our FLR.....it may different with your 30 RSO. rockin'

I have a 2010 model and the fan is mounted in a recess. No clearance problems but I have really been disappointed in the fans performance. It is mounted so close to the ceiling that it doesn't move any air.
