Just purchased my first Excela (06,33RLO) after three Airstreams I have moved into the fifth wheel generation. I am having one problem with it, the sofa slide, it runs out just fine and drops into place but the top of the slide has aboit an inch and a quarter gap between the wall and the trim. Can anyone tell me how to correct the problem.

Digger1, is the rubber seal pulling out from the wall on the outside?

Welcome Digger, a couple of questions.

You stated: it runs out just fine and drops into place....the top of the slide has about an inch and a quarter gap between the wall and the trim.

Assume that once it drops into place...you 'bump' the switch to 'seat' the slide against the wall. I have to on mine, that's the reason for asking.

If you have that gap at the top....how does the side trim sit/align with the wall as far as gap. Is it the same at the bottom of the side trim as it is at the top of the trim? Is it just at the top and the same all the way across.

Do you have a slide topper/cover?

Still not working; I will check the rubber seal next time I bring it in.

Workshop: I have bumper the switch and it doesn't change anything, I have checked the top of the side thinking that something may have been thrown up there but it's clear. The gap at the bottom is about a half inch, the gap on the forward edge top os about one inch and it's about an inch and a quarter to an inch and a half at the back top edge. When the slidr is closed it matches up great. I don't have a slide topper/cover

Checked mine this morning....and sits more flush than I remembered?!?! Guess if you don't look at it oftened...one forgets.

My sofa slide on the left side is flush to the wall__the right side will be out 1/2 to 3/4 inches from the wall. No big deal for me, as I see it as a result of the slides travel. Believe the far side will lag behind the side closer to the motor because of the drive shaft flex if you have a motor driven unit like mine.

When I was working on my slide system last year, I determined that this slide didn't have a "stop' on the ram that limited it travel out or in. The Entertainment slide did and its extention is limited on travel both in and out.

Does by chance...when extending the slide does it reach the end of travel and stops and your not able to extend it further...receiving a clicking sound maybe. Or do you stop it there?

My unit has two gastets, one is a 'wiper' and mounted on the outside, the other is a white gasket on the inside wall's flange, slide opening trim, that the slide trim bumps into when extended. Both will seal the room. Would assume it doesn't touch it?

When I extend it, after it drops down it will stop and then click, and the top of the inside seal doesn't touch.
I have it in storage two weeks then I will have it out and take a better look, the only reason that I even noticed it was I could see a little sun light coming in the back corner and when I ran my hand along it I could feel warm air. It doesn't seem to leak any rein water but I would like to fix it before cold weather.

With a clicking sound when the slide is extended.....the first things that comes to mind is either something in the 'ramp' area that is keeping the slide from closing to the wall___ Check those areas to ensure nothing has fallen into that space.

Or an adjustment may be needed to the stop that limits the slide rams movement outward. On my unit, an '01, there is a bar fastened to the bottom of the ram....believe that your unit has a bracket with an adjustable bolt/nut system that should be easier to adjust. My unit's rams are covered and believe yours might be open for viewing. With the slide extended, you should be able to see if the parts are making contact limiting the travel.

On page 3, post #28 of Renovation 101....I covered the 'rams and plates' and it should show you the differences in the stops and generally where they are located. If its the stops...could be an easy adjustment.......But considering its an '06 can't believe it could have been out of adjustment this long? Hopefully there is an easy solution.
