Hello Everyone, this is our first post on your forum. We currently have a Montana and are investigating Excel Limiteds. Our TV is a Volvo 610. We've looked at two but the dealer was "no longer an Excel dealer" and his units were 2005. The Excel website doesn't seem to have a dealer locater or at least one that I can find.
We are interested in finding a dealer in the southeast with whom one or more of you have positive sales and service experience.
And last, when buying other fifthwheels, we usually start negotiations at 30% off MSRP. Did that approach work for you or is that too low(or high)?
All answers will be most appreciated.

Welcome to iRV2, we're really glad to have you here as a new member and are looking forward to reading your posts about your RVing experiences and adventures with your Montana fifth wheel and your new Excel when you get it. You'll find a great bunch of folks on this site who are very knowledgeable of RVing, the rigs we use, and the places we go in them.
As you'll see, they're eager to help and share their knowledge and experiences with others. Click here for a link to all the Excel dealers.
Again, welcome to iRV2, we're glad you joined.

Makinsmoke, I recently visited Hood RV in Decatur, Alabama and they had 5 or 6 Excels on their lot- all Limited models. They had a pot of beans and 'fixins' for their customers- it was a pre-springtime gala. Nice folks, for sure. We didn't buy- just lookin. Oh, I forgot- they used to sell tractors too, but no longer, and their parts area is very well stocked.

Welcome Virgil & Jo to iRV2.com and the Excel Owner's Forum. Nice to see a fellow HDT'er join the forum -- I don't have any knowledge of an Excel dealer in the Southeast. I'm sure others will chime in with a response.

30% sounds like a good starting place. Smaller dealers won't deal that low, but a high volume dealer - or a hungry one - might. Regardless, it is usually best to start way low.

MakinSmoke,
You can always start there but with an Excel I'll be very surprised if you get into that range. But if you don't ask the question the automatic answer is no. So I would ask.
We ordered ours the beginning of March and if no delays it is scheduled off the line April 24. Wahoo.

It "sounds" like a good starting place, but I would be very surprised if someone could get that much off on a new (read, current year) Excel. It's been our experience that high-end RVs such as the Excel command a premium, and one would be lucky to get as high as 25% off MSRP.
We got just under 20% off MSRP when we ordered our Excel. We might have done a bit better had we been willing to shop more dealers. However, our pickup date was the middle of January, so we didn't even consider getting quotes from some of the Excel dealers because they were in the northern tier of states -- not someplace we'd be willing to go in the middle of January! And, considering the number of miles we would have had to drive -- there and back -- plus the cost of fuel and places to stay, we would have had to get 25% or more off to make it worthwhile to make a much longer trip.
