Has anyone traveled I-10 from Houston to Mobile, AL recently? What are the road conditions like?

Eight months ago. Construction at Baton Rouge continuing on I-12 bypass. I didn't experience the jaw rattling ride that many have reported. Watch the intersection after the Mississippi River bridge for lane changes when headed eastbound.

Drove from Jacksonville, Fl to Houston, Tx last Friday and Saturday. Still construction around Baton Rouge but was not bad on Saturday.

Tom,
When did you drive it? I'm looking for recent travel information.

Spring 2010, no problems. Bypass New Orleans by taking I-12, unless you intend to stop in NO. The east approach on I-10 into NO is like a roller coaster ride. You will think you are a dolphin (fish, not fan).

Be really careful around Baton Rouge. I12 is the straighter shot if you don't want to go to NO (as someone else mentioned). There are some very sharp lane changes between Denham Springs and Baton Rouge and the locations of the lanes changes frequently. There's also a longish bridge or two in there. If there's an accident, the mess turns into a huge mess.

The Mississippi River bride on I10 can also be a problem. Try not to come through Baton Rouge during normal commute times during the week. On the weekends, you will probably be okay...unless there's an accident (which happens frequently). Then all bets are off.

The uneven cement slabs on I-10 around Lafayette, LA are bad unless they have been repaired since 2010.

Thanks to all for the info. I'll give an update after we reach our final destination.
