Suspension height setting

I'm in the process of upgrading the suspension by changing to the HD suspension kit and raising the unit by using the lower hole on the front and rear hanger.

As the front/rear hangers has three holes...my unit had originally been set to the middle of the three. The equalizer hanger has two holes and was initally set in the lower of the two.

The Dexter install sheet or other suspension resources doesn't reference this....

Question....If I'm already in the lower hole on the equalizer hanger, Should I leave the equalizer in this position? If anyone is running their suspension using the lower hanger bolt/hole setting....what equalizer position are you using?

Thanks,

workhorse

Hey work!

Use the lower setting on the equalizer and the lowest hole on the hangers and you'll be as high as you can go without further mods! The great OZ has spoken!! SKIA is back!!! BTW........that's the way we ordered our new '12 model. Works fine. Glad to see you back on here buddy! rockin'

My Excel tends to ride high in the front so I had the springs moved to the lower holes on both the shackles and equalizer pivot. It helped a little and gave me more clearance at the trailer end.

I have the curb side complete and had set everything to the lower holes. Just didn't make much sense having had the equalizer set to the lower hole originally and the front/rear hangers using the middle hole.

Do notice the difference reaching to unlock the door...what a difference an 'inch' + makes.

The road side is blocked and jacked with the wheels off and 1/2 way through the change. The road side has had some work done on the suspension before I bought it so it's been somewhat slower with the install.

I decided to raise the unit to allow for a more level tow. With getting the new F-350....the Excel was level and had bout 6 inch clearance between the bed and sleeper. The truck, using a level was still "+ level" but looked nose hight. So I added air bags to make the truck 'more normal'.....then the rear of the Excel looked low !?!?!?

Wanted to upgrade the suspension to the HD anyway so better now than earlier. As a woodworker....this suspension stuff might get hired out the next time.

Thanks for the inputs...

A little off topic, BUT while in Las Cruces NM at the rally last week, I had several folks from this forum ask me about you.....and I had to brag about you and your bride puttin' on a super happy hour and a wonderful buffet lunch for us when we came down........but your shop just look like a "pig sty"...old rotten lumber, door to the shop that wouldn't close, old tools that a begger would turn down. Other than that....you're an OK guy! I am so full of it.....wine that is!!! rockin' over and out of my mind!!! Love ya brother!!!
