We were always a little worried about service when we bought our Excel. At the time we purchased, we lived in NJ and there were not any Excel dealers anywhere near us. Add to this problem the fact that the floor plan my wife loved was being discontinued, so we had to search the internet to find one. (we probably could have called Linda, to find out where this model was shipped to, but we didn't think of it at the time)

We ended up finding, and flying to Kansas to buy our "soon to be" home, and drove it back to NJ. Earlier this year we sold our house, and began fulltime living.

Until today, everything that has needed maintenance or repair, has been addressed by myself or my wife (she doesn't mind getting her hands greasy!)

The last few weeks, our living room TV has not been working properly. It doesn't want to turn on, or stay on. I'm an electrical engineer, but I know little about TV's and one time (about 20 years ago) I got seriously shocked by the high voltage gun from trying to fix a worthless TV. I'll work on anything else, but I don't like playing around inside TV's

So today I called my dealer in Kansas, he called Smith Center, and called me right back. Here is what is supposed to happen during the next week. . .We were just in the Charlotte area visiting family and getting mail. We are now in Myrtle Beach for a few days, then planned on going down to Charleston to see it's sites for a few days, then start heading west.

Turns out there is a new Excel dealer in Mathews NC (suburb of Charlotte) and a new rig is leaving Smith Center tomorrow or Thursday to go to this new dealer.

A new TV is being loaded into this rig for us, and should be in Mathews early next week. So after we visit Charleston, we will head back up to Charlotte and swap out our TV.

Sure, things could go wrong with this plan, but right now I am a very happy Excel owner!

I'll let the board know how things work out.

Doug

My brand new 27" Toshiba TV also failed. It quits after less than an hour of use, in DVD or antenna mode. PI agreed to take it back and credit me the cost, and I will buy an LCD. Great!

Mine is a 27" Toshiba also.

I think you may have gotten a better deal than me, Bruce. I would rather loose the weight, and go LCD, but so far everyone involved has seemed to bend over backwards to get me fixed and on my way.

My first one lasted about 7500 miles!

Ya'll is making me nervous! I have a 27" Toshiba and it's worked for 2 1/2 years shaking down the road for about 30,000 miles. Now that I said that it will probably crap out tomorrow! The Jamo home entertainment center........that's another story!

So glad all is good with the service deal. Just FYI, our best friend in the whole world used to live in Mathews! Small world. Ain't the south just great???

Installed my new TV today! I want to give a special shout out to Deryl at Chetopa RV for getting George and the other boys at SC to load a new TV for me into a new 33TKE that was going to Country Camping Corner in Matthews NC

Also thanks to Jason and Frank at Country Camping for letting us pull in, open slides and run our generators to get the A/C going while we swapped out the TV. Was in the upper 80's there today.

Hopefully this one lasts for a while.
