The best part is that I can do the honeydos during the week so weekends are free for Nascar, IRL and Formula 1 during the racing season. We never travel on weekends or Holidays now, which relieves a lot of travel stress.

Everyday is Saturday. I do what I want, when I want, as long as the wife agrees . Terminolgy does change. We don't take vacations or holidays. We just take trips. Except for when we have the grand kids, our trips are kind of lacking in structure. Neighbors have a hard time understanding how long it takes us to go from point A to point B. When asked when we will return my answer is usually by the month. Those who do not RV can have a difficult time living in an unstructured environment.

Carol and I will be working till the end of May 09. We were vacationing in Williams AZ this summer when I got retirement orders from the Reserves earlier than we thought. I had signed a contract where I work, which I could have broken, but decided to go for another year. We extended our time away a few days and felt very freed. The rest will come but I know that day in July was special. I worry that the days will blend into some meaningless march of time which would not be very satisfying. Weekends shall always remain special if only for ball games or motorcycle rallies.

The main reason I pay attention to the weekends is to watch out that we don't make a Friday or Saturday move which might result in difficulty finding a new "home" (campsite). This due to the fact that we rarely make reservations.

Otherwise, the days are all pretty much the same - scheduled as we see fit at the time.

Thanks to all the replies, I am not on the threshold of retirement but my fingers are on the window sill looking in. I liked the reference of Sunday as the marker of the week but you got to remember that 1/7th of my life has been Mondays Book2

I'm retired and my "business" card says it all.

"I wake up in the morning with nothing to do and go to bed at night with only half of it done."

Also you can tell when it is Sunjday because the paper is thicker.

We both retired Dec 06. Was easy to get into the "nothing to do and days to do it" mode. During the NASCAR season our week consist of "Six Saturdays and then they race". The really great part of Rving is go a day early and come home a day after. Spend more time with the wife then ever and enjoy it more.
