Hey Tom, We are leaving the Yellowstone area this week. (wed or thur depending on when mail gets here) then we are heading up to Glacier NP.

After Glacier we are heading east. (probably towards Rushmore, but nothing is set in stone) Maybe we will bump into each other??

We were very much un-welcomed in the South Unit of TRNP two years ago, and I am still steamed about it. Low on water when we got to Medora, no place to hook up to fill in town or in park. When I spotted a faucet for park staff trailer, a ranger came up and ran me off, stating "no permanent hook-ups." I just wanted to fill tank, but he would not hear it. No water, no camp. Town private camps were full. Looked up superintendent of park in her office on way out of town and told her what I thought of policy and RV-unfriendly reception, but she could care less. My one lifetime trip to ND, and I missed the park.

Two2go,

That's a sad story...what you said about the superintenant not concerned....you know what they say "the fish stinks from the head down. Good thing that type of thing only happens rarely in our country, thank goodness. Some folks are taught things wrong simply out of ignorance. rockin

two2go, I am sorrry to hear of your bad experince though must say when we have been there we use a Water Bandit to fill from spigots without threads like you find in many Forest Service Parks and there is several in South units Cottonwood Campground that the rangers have always said it was okay to get water from. Also the private campground in Medora has a dump station and I beleive fresh water fill free for the asking. Also in the North Unit of TR National Park there is a dump station and free water as well. You might also try Sullys Creek State Park that is just outsid of Medora and very scenic. They also have hydrants that one needs the water bandit to fill with. Good travels to all
