Hoping someone can help us. We are at a volunteer assignment and have to use the crank up rooftop antennae (no cable here), which is the first time we've had to use it. Reception is spotty but when we do get a station to come in there is so much static and this snapping sound coming over the TV that you can hardly stand to listen to it (usualy end up turning it off causes it drives me crazy). I've checked the wire coming in from roof and connection is tight.....checked wires on back of tuner and all seem OK...seems like an electrical interference. We did find that if bathroom fan was on it added to it but this is hardly ever running so must be other things doing it but why. Have tried shutting of AC unit but no change. Can someone tell me some things to check ? Bad enough to get one, or maybe two stations to come in (on a good day) but then to have this snapping sound over it,drives us nuts. Thanks !

Forgive the obvious question, but since you didn't mention it, you did have the antenna booster turned on, right?

That was going to be my question as well, is if the Amplifier is turned on. If not understanding where it may be at, it is located on your Distribution Box with all the Ant, Sat, and cable hook ups. Turning this on should have your red light indicating that it is on.

Some electronic equipment will cause the TV to fry and place lines into the reception. I am use that there is some positive information here (on irv2) that you can place in-line to help stop that.

Good Luck

Yep, we have the distribution center box turned on (red light is lit), the button is pushed for "TV ant" so is there something else that needs to be turned on ? There is an A/B box on the side wall inside tuner area and changing from A to B makes no difference in TV. All thoughts are welcome...

A/B box is just for the sattelite wiring.

Sometimes our "popping" gets better/worse depending on whether the fan and light under our microwave is on or off.

It is kinda wierd, but sometimes the popping is better with the fan on. sometimes the popping is unbearable with the fan on.

Linda,
I had a "motorboating" noise in the audio and horizonal lines in TV when on manual antenna and a weak station with the Fantastic Fan running. The faster the fan the worse the condition. PI said "don't know" and Fantastic Fan sent me 2 inline suppressors that go in series between the B+ and fantastic fan motor and another one in the ground from the motor. Noise/lines are gone. Took 10 minutes to install. Fantastic Fan is about the best service oriented company I've seen. The engineer that helped me called and followed up
to see if my problem was fix!

P.S. Our manual antenna is very close to the Fantastic fan. HTHs
