Years ago (I'm showing my age) when you bought a suit of clothes, you got two pairs of pants and one jacket.
My boss once explained why:

It was because you usually got twice as many kicks in the ass, as pats on the back!!!

Well I left Smith Center a couple of days ago after seeing Excel stand behind their warranty and do a fantastic job for me.

I sometimes hear folks bitch on this site, so I'm here to give pats on the back to Jack, Ralph, Bryan and especially Ted who did most of the work. Nobody I can think of backs up their warranty as does Peterson Industries.

Thanks Guys!

Tom

Tom SKP,

It sure was nice meeting you guys in S.C. and perhaps Sheila and I will boondock with ya'll sometime. We ended up at Sam's Club in Council Bluffs for the night after leaving S.C. Our tiny 400 watt inverter was powering our 15" LCD TV in our bedroom for an hour or so while the motorhomes behind us were running their 10,000 watt generators all night long & were still running when we hit the road @ 6am, LOL.

We are currently all set up on the family farm for the summer in NW IL complete with FHU's and it was nice to have the AC running today as temps hit 95*. We miss the cool dry summers we spent at 9,000' in Colorado!

The gang at S.C. did a great job on our coach as well, which reminds me I have to schedule our last warranty call for Mid-Oct to get our actuator replaced on our big slide.

Dave & Sheila

Hey Dave and Sheila,
We went to Superior, NE city park for 4 days and then onto Beatrice city park for one day and are now at Harrah's Casino in Council Bluffs. We hung around city parks where we could get AC for A/C, with 4 days in the 90's.
Now at Harrah's, Debbie just came back from making her camping contribution! Yea, they won, she lost!
Sorry we didn't get to spend much time together. Let try to run into each other down the road!

Sounds fun Tom SKP, we considered going to Harrah's too, but since it was already near sunset and we were going to be hitting the road @ 6am we parked at Sam's where I used to park when I was delivering new motorhomes to Salt Lake City.

We almost bought a new 26RT in 2007 and we wanted to build a desk unit just like your setup since it had a similar, but shorter floor plan. That floor plan seems highly copied throughout the industry. We also considered removing our sofa sleeper to build in a 2-wide computer desk, but ultimately we will change coaches since this one is at CC load capacity (only ~2300 lbs ;-( ) & we have no load room for extra batteries & solar panels we want for the ultimate boondocking coach.

When our cheap Euro-liner chairs broke, I replaced one of them with a light weight computer table from WM. It works really great although space is a premium. Our safe and printer sit underneath along with a container for my electronics where I build low power ham radios in Altoids and Tuna tins.

I'm a member of the Escapees RV Club Escapees RV Club . $60/yr. They have a listing (for members only) called Days End. It give locations & info for places to camp that are free or less than $15 all over the US and Canada. It is an accumulation of hundreds of spots found and reported by Escapee members. This is my prime source, unless I'm just looking for 1 night at a business, then I use the second one:

Second, I'm a member of the OvernightRVParking web site.
Overnight RV Parking. Their database contains 8757 RV Parking and No Parking locations in the USA and Canada. Lots of Walmarts, Cracker Barrels, Sam's etc plus some of the city parks, casinos, etc.
This originally was a Yahoo Group and we volunteered data to help Jim O'Briant get started.... then he took it private and now charges $25/yr, but gives 1 or 2 weeks membership credit for updates/additions.

I believe Dave (KU9L) also uses these same to lists. KS and NE for instance are loaded with free or cheap city/county parks.

Looks good to me! What ever works.

I ended up with mine since I knew what I wanted in a desk, but the problem was to find an RV that could be modified, AND only had 2 slides, AND was under 14,500 GVWR, AND had windows of the right height to go along with the desk. The RT28TRW did all that, but quality RV manfactureres don't makes anything like that any more!!! Sad!

The W28RKW version unfortunately only has 3100 lbs of CC, same as mine did before OEM options. The Winslow 31RSE sports a CC of a whopping 5,660 lbs before EOM options and at 2' shorter than our RT33RSE would be easier in some of those older campgrounds. Unfortunately I'd be in trouble with DW since it has about half of the kitchen counter space as ours. The Winslow 31RLE still has 4,920 lbs of CC before OEM options and would be able to hold an extra 4 batteries like yours + the kitchen is fully functional on a road side rest stop with the slides in unlike ours now ... however, because of the generous upgrade of the axels for 2011 I'd have to upgrade trucks since ours is at capacity already now with a 12K GVWR and 23.3K GCWR. If our farm sells or I run-over the tooth fairy I'll get a Freightliner or International truck while Sheila follows in her jeep, LOL. The first mod at initial build would be to put in the computer/ham radio workstation instead of the hide-a-bed sofa, we have a 12" thick air mattress for our son and daughter-n-law since the bed itself is virtually unusable for anything other than kids who don't have back issues!
