Has anyone tried the Swivelwheel system. We are planning to haul the motorcycle, 430lbs BMW HP2, around the country. This seems like a great product and is very affordable compared to the Hydralift and other products I have viewed. We are hoping to pick up one in December when we visit Corpus. I think the website is swivelwheel.com. I'd sure like to hear about this product if anyone has experience. Phil

We pulled in the park here in Rawlins, WY this evening and we saw one of the single swivel models. Had a hug BBQ smoker on it. Didn't talk to anyone and now it's too late. Here's the link to the website. swivelwheel

Just beware that some states might call this a doulbe tow and as such it might not be legal. Just something to think about.

I too have looked at these trailers. They have been around for more than 40 years, but always had a bit of a problem with caster flutter. Maybe these guys have it figured out now. I would like to see a video with trailer loaded and unloaded, just to watch the caster wheels. Also, I question if the Excel hitch is designed for the additional stress that a swivel wheel trailer would add, especially when turning.

In addition to the caster wobble (?), I would also be concerned about that small diameter wheel running 60-65 mph for extended distances.

How is this different from the Idaho Tote?

Virg,
The "Idaho Tote" is a two-wheel, steerable axle trailer with 15" tires. The single wheel would, IMO, be more susceptible to castering.

I'll give the gentleman at swivelwheel an email and see what he has to say about castering. I appreciate the info. Thanx, Phil

I just checked the website and they indicate no caster flutter, that it has been engineered out. Sure like to hear from someone who has or had one. Here is the website address: http://www.cruiserlift.com/swivelwheel78.html
