As big as those are, I think I would look at covering them up with a piece of wood that matches the wood work in your rig. If is Oak, it will be rather simple. Just finish it with polyuerathane, then find the studs and screw it to the studs. Cover the screws with buttons that fit the screw head hole.
Looks like I'm the SKIA back up tonight!!

Rockin' I think Still has the answer...
...when I had to make the repair to the wall/header on the last repair, the hard part, was obtaining a matching paneling, which didn't exist outside the unit. I ended up 'stealing' paneling from within and using other panel to make yet another repair. It all worked out and happy with the results.
To get to this issue, I would also suggest contacting PI and see if a small section of either 'wall panel that matches' or matching trim material in the same color/finish can be had.
It looks to be about 3 inches by 3 ft? Have it run the width of the window and at least behind the curtain. The panel, would set somewhat flush and be less noticeable, especially if the edges (bear wood) is painted to closely match the panel.
If solid trim is used, would be ideal if it was 'thin' 1/4" or so rather than 3/4". Be less proud of the panel and not look as an 'add-on'. An adhesive like Power Grab can be used to fasten to the panel so no other fasteners are showing....but the screw/button will also look go.
Back to my prior repair....when I had to trim out the door entry and several other areas to cover the edges of the panel....I cut strips of panel to width and length and using a belt sander, removed some of the backer plies to 'thin' the new trim pieces and sanded the edges and wiped with an off white paint to blend in the edges. Ended up with a nice finish and trim.
Hope something helped.
