Water Damage

Hi all. I purchased a 2012 Excel travel trailer a couple of months ago and was told by the selling dealer that there was water damage in the wall between the dinette slide and entry door. I called Curtis at the Service Center to get an estimate on the repair. After pulling the trailer from NJ back to NC and spending some time in it, I discovered that there's much, much more damage than was disclosed. I'm currently in Smith Center where the original damage and water damage to virtually every wall around the other slides are being repaired. They've told me that they can't find any obvious routes that the water took to cause the damage. No evidence of leaking from the top even though there was damage there, that it appears that it leached up from the bottom. The headers we're all good but the wood under the headers down was rotten. Does anyone have experience with this?

37, so sorry to hear your woes. Does this TT have a full body paint? If so, that would explain the issue of wood rot around the slide openings. The paint vendor failed to properly caulk the molding around the slides when new. Otherwise, the previous owner more than likely didn't do the maintenance of regular caulking. Very important on an all wood Excel. I'm surprise that the folks at the Service Center couldn't determine the source/cause. That's one expensive repair as some of our Excel owner can attest.

It's not painted and I doubt the previous owner did any upkeep. All 4 slides have water damage on the adjacent walls.

And the dealership I bought it from suddenly won't answer my calls or emails.
