My shurflo water pump acting kinda funny in the past three days, me thinks. Sometimes all is well (ha ha, well...water). Then I turn it on and no water emerges at the requesting faucet. If I turn off the pump at the panel in the bathroom and wait 15 seconds or so, it starts up again and water emerges as required. But, alas, this solution does not hold for long.
I pulled out the water filter, hoping the filter was clogged. And, yes, I have sufficient water in the fresh tank. No problems when connected to city water.
Any ideas other than calling shurflo for a replacement.
BTW, I could not find a manual for this pump among my other numerous manuals. Neither did I find one on their not-so-comprehensive web site.
It's always something....

If it acts the same way when using the water pump on/off switch in your utility center, and your elec. connections are tight at the pump, it is probably the pump. If everything is OK using the other switch, I would suspect the switch on your monitor panel or a connection there.
Unless you mean that the pump runs and no water emerges. Then most definitely the pump is faulty.

OK boys you will have to consider the source on the suggestion. Nobody calls me an engineer but is it possible the one of the connections is loose and the water line/pump is getting air? That way you would still hear the pump but it would be unable to pull/push water through.

Bruce,
You didn't say whether the pump was running or not when you had no water at the faucet....that makes diagnois hard. Here's a link to ShurFlo...but it really doesn't into service diagnois. ShurFlo

Good ideas all.
I think, after only a few days with this intermittent problem, that the pump may run for a sec and not pump water, when I turn the switch off and on. Tho usually it won't run at all and not pump.
Or it will run for a couple secs and start working when I turn on the switch.
I'll try the following:
Ck for air leaks
Ck for loose elec connections
When it stops working again, run it with the util switch on rather than the bath switch.
Look for an apartment.
Thanks again.

Bruce,
Have you used the pump much in the past? I'm thinking you may have something floating in your fresh water tank that may be blocking the suction side of the pump. Just a guess.

Bruce,
The pump's pigtail is connected to the trailer's wiring with two wire nuts. Remove the nuts and re-twist the wires then reinstall the wire nuts. I had an intermittent pump once and this was where I found the problem.

I used the exterior power switch for three days without problem. Then three days now on the interior switch without return of the symptoms. Guess that qualifies as intermittent.
So I'll ck on this next week when I explore the bowels on my RV to:
1 replace a card on my Progressive EMS. It stopped working.
2 replace a circuit breaker on my Autoformer. It keeps tripping.
3 reinstall the water filter. I pulled it out while diagnosing the water pump.
4 set up a wet bar (might as well, given how much time I'll spend in there.)

My goodness Bruce. I just happen to be an "expert" in that area. We could solve just about it all with the wet bar!
