HI..
We have just bought a used 30RSO in Phoenix and driven it back to the East Coast. We plan on starting to full-time in the fall (or as soon after as the house sells!). Meanwhile, is there an Excel Owners magazine or group or anything else beyond this forum that we should check out?
We are new to camping and fifth wheels and the whole thing...but we are so excited!

Loralie,
Congratulations on your new (to you) Excel. If you go to http://excelrvs.com/, on the right hand side there is a link to State Excel Clubs. I'm sure those folks in your area will help you and they plan get togethers for members.
Ed

And, once you do sell your house and start fulltiming, be sure to join other Excel fulltimers on the Excel Fulltimers Yahoo Group! It's not a very busy Yahoo Group, so it won't inundate you with emails.

Excel does publish a newsletter (once a quarter?). Be sure you let them know your address so you can start receiving the newletter (you can also choose to get it electronically...actually, as I recall, you simply get an email that gives the direct link to the Excel website where the newletter can be read).

Welcome Loralie. We also just bought a 30RSO. So far we are very happy with it. It isn't our first fifth wheel but we are also very excited.

Loralie... Its good to see another 30'RSO owner on board I was begining to think we where the only ones with that floor plan up untill recently. We really enjoy the lay out with our only concern being that the refer did not cool real well when traveling though have since found a solution with the help from irv2 forum members. It is a great source of knowledge and fun so don't hesitate to stop by anytime.

Hi all and thanks for the great welcome!
As I am still working (until June and husband until fall) we won't make it to the midatlantic get together. But we sure hope to sometime in the future.
A couple of questions for Max1:
Max1 - what was the solution to the refrigerator problem?
Also - where do you hang wet coats when you come in?
It is amazing how much we have to learn and how much its the little stuff that seems to bog me down!!

On our unit we must get a negative pressure when traveling also called the "pea loot effect" If you blow across a straw in a glass of water you can see it draws the water up the straw. Well when this happens on our refer it must create dead airspace so the air does not pass over the cooling coils like its supposed to and the refer temperature climbs fairly rapidly to between 45 to 46 degrees then once stopped would go back down. The solution was to take the deflector off from roof that's in front of roof vent then force air into the side intake vent by fastening a piece of metal the height of vent and about 2" out to scope the air and negate the negative pressure. We have not had warm-ups since this modification so far. It may be isolated thing with our coach I'm not sure though all RV techs that have looked at it are complexd by the way it is installed "sideways". We monitor it with a remote thermostat so I am sure its accurate though like I said it may just be a fluke with our coach as I have not heard of it with others though don't know if others really check it when traveling or not. PI did try to help at first though when I told them Norcold said it was installed wrong they backed away and I have since been told that they now have that type of install approved by Norcold. It does not sound like it was prior to my concerns as the recent documnentation was just done in the last year

For the wet coats and towels ect I like these 3M Hooks you can stick them in your shower on the back side wall so towels and such are out of the way and sight then if you have wet coats just take down the towel's and hang coats to drip dry in the shower. Have fun you choose a great floor plan
PS: Get the larger size hooks and they can also be removed if you sell as no holes are needed.

Hang them in the shower until they dry.

Sorry..didn't notice that Max1 had already addressed this.

Max1, are you the one that we had the discussions about Pilot effect? Glad you found a fix. Seems ashame that PI does not have an engineer that understands how this works.

There are flow measuring devices which operate on this principle. flow over the top of a tube will create a lower pressure in the tube which can be prorated to the flow across the tube.

In any case, glad you found a cure that was workable.

Ken
