Hey Guys,

Been pretty exciting this evening as we had 2 tornadoes within 5 miles of the park here in Shawboro, NC. We went up to the pavilion to take shelter. Some small hail, lots of lightning, wind and thunder. We put the slides in, gathered the safety box, 2 computers, weather radio, water, and of course a little wine! It was over in about 30 minutes but was scary! The park owners said tornadoes are very unusual in this neck of the woods. We decided to not take a chance. Winds here were only 60 knots but was shaking Journey enough my wine glasses were rattling pretty good! Glad to have a heavier rig and glad we took precaution. Tom

Tom,
You did the right thing by leaving the RV. We were in a similar situation at an IN state park about 3yrs ago. It can rattle your nerves. Stay safe.

Thank God you're safe. Always like to hear "no damage".

Am interested in the "safety box". Would you mind sharing gereral information about it's contents. We've just started FT'ing and look for all the help we can to make it a successful journey.

Thanks

Hi Tim and Roseann,

Welcome aboard! The TKE is one of our favorite floorplans! We have a safety box with important papers, ect. It's not perfect as it isn't fireproof. Just water resistant. I will send you more info in a PM. Tom

Tom,
You were 'rockin' buddy! We had sustained winds from 40-55 knots yesterday, all day long. Be safe buddy and enjoy the Mid-Atlantic outing.

Tom, glad everyone is OK and no damage to the units in the park. Our first trip with the Excel was to Mayport Naval Station. A water spout pasted through the ship basin and the rec field behind the park one afternoon, minor damage to one ship and a mess to the RV park and rec area. It does happen quickly and glad when there gone. Like you said, one of the few times its nice to have have a heavy unit.

Be safe and enjoy the Rally.

Ours is fire resistant for 30 minutes. I don't want my rig to ever catch on fire, but, if it does; I don't think it will burn fr more than 30 minutes.

I think the safety box is too important to take to PM, Tom.

Every fulltimer should have one, mabye you should start a new thread about it??

This is for Tom. I showed you what we have for air products on the chev and alpenlite and also the JT Strongarm stabilizers and you decided you can wiggle more before spending money. The air hitch and trailair center point suspension would have helped you on the roads and the JT would be awesome when the wind blows. Of course you have more deisel money than we do. Larry

Larry,

You have added all those "gee-gaws" to your rig for a nice ride and now can't afford to put fuel in your rig Go figure!
