Steve,N,Jan....buying a used unit always has it challanges, have learned that newer units do also.

Would assume your 'Fridge' is a Norcold? Don't know if your unit came with owner manuals so will give you a link to several below. On my Norcold, I have to 'Depress' the button for several seconds to turn it off/on. Kind of a safety thing. Might also check the burner and make sure it's clean, on my prior unit scale rust would fall on the burner keeping it from lighting, once I determined what it was just needed to check it from time to time. Also check to make sure it has 12vdc to the frige.

Is the jack that is not working the front landing gear or rear stabilizer?

Thetford and Norcold manuals

Hope something helps,

Chris

Welcome to excel, hope your repairs go smoothly & quickly. We also purchased an older model and had similar issues, but worked out ok, DH wanted a new throne and I wanted a new spray faucet. You'll enjoy the quality of your excel, some of our friends have newer or new models and they have even commented how well built and strudy our 5er is. Happy camping

Congratulations...I didn't know the toilets they had in '99 had a ball and seal arrangement which is designed to hold water, thought they just had the "flapper valve" arrangement. I could be wrong though. My handle of "SirKnowItAll" is just a moniker, given to me just to help feed my already big ego!!!

Steve,
Welcome. So glad you have joined our little band of whatever we are. You'll soon learn the Chris (Workshop) is the serious one who actually knows what he is doing. There are a couple of us who only occasionally have anything of value to add. We're here for entertainment value.

Oh, yeah, one last thing...This quote from the above response..."My handle of "SirKnowItAll" is just a moniker, given to me just to help feed my already big ego!!!"...is really true!

Please don't miss The Sticky called Restoration 101. You will find a LOT of good information there.

Welcome again.

yes it is a flapervalve probably flat plate that swings to the side when flushing looks like a rubber seal on it that probably needs replaced going to get tha model # and try to find some parts.
On the fridge the buttons do not seem to be working I am thinking it might be a curcuit board or the contacts under the button cover because I have held the on off button for 30 seconds straight ,nothing and the cooling setting button seems to be dead too.
On the faucet I am sure it just needs o rigs can I go get an assortment pack and have the ones ?Is i a standard house type faucet?

You might want to try some plumbers silicon on the rubber gasket for the commode. THat will work sometimes when the seal is dry.

Steve/Jan,
Welcome again and keep us posted on the status of your Excel. Chris, 'Workshop', has some very detailed explanations of what he has done to his Excel. We are a friendly bunch who enjoy sharing information and also some good-natured bantering.
The Excel Family Reunion is 27-31 May 2009, hope to see you folks there.
John

See there, Sir Godby...your not one of the privileged folks on the inside joke, so there ya go, not knowing nothing about it once again! Don't you just wished you were one of the "privileged"?

We are getting ready for the Oakboys happy hour real soon! Maybe then I'll start making more sense.

BTW I saw the pix of the CO campout, you haven't changed a bit....now that should bother ya!
