The two of us both spend a lot of time on our computers. We feel a need for a better desk arrangement in our rig. A photo in the Owners Forum photo gallery shows a very interesting double desk (Excel Desk - iRV2.com RV Photo Gallery). My mouth is watering. Does anybody have any information about it? How common is it to find a rig with this desk, or is this one of a kind? How does it fit into the overall floorplan? Did Peterson build this, or is it from some other firm?

Looks to be a custom/home made setup - pretty neat, and I'd think someone handy with woodworking tools, or any decent cabinet shop could fab one up - doubt it's any sort of OEM setup.

Hey ken and lee!
'Bout time you get on the forum. I don't know who that desk set belongs to, but Bruce and Jenna have a double desk that is nice. Maybe they'll send pix to show you. Welcome to our little world!!! rockin'

TomSKP had it custom built by P.I. at the factory as well as a lot of other cool mods targeted for a great boondocking experience. I would be cool to see photos of it all.

Larry and Dave are correct... it's my 2007 Excel R28RTW. A left over, I bought it new in 2009 and picked up and had modified at factory in SC in April 2009.
Curtis also mounted my 3 120W solar panels, built a special battery box for 6, 6V AGM batteries in my gen compartment, and had a large inverter that I specified installed. (I guess I'm a boondocker!) Plus the desk and some other special changes. They can do anything and can do it well. I just don't know if they want to advertise and take on that kind of stuff. Bryan will have to comment on that, but I was delighted! Curtis did most of the special stuff himself... with me as a poor helper.

What can I tell you???
Basically it was a rear lounge chair RV unit (2 slides).
I know the desk height I wanted and Brain and I discussed my desires with PI wood working experts in SC. They then built it for me and did an excellent job. It's about 29 inches deep and wall to wall width. Height is 30". The chairs and file cabinet I bought at Staples and carried them with me to SC.

I commented to Bryan before and again to Ted in the SC Service Center last week... I wondered why PI did't take pictures and advertise the modifications they are capable of. But of course, it was a perfect match for my 2 slide unit... 1 big LR slide and 1 BR slide. Maybe that's not something they want to get into on a regular basis.

Let me know if I can give you any more info.

Tom

Looks like a pretty simple project to me. Go by your local lumber yard and get a sheet of cabnet grade ply and some 1x2 solid oak. One file cabnet and a little time you will be fixed right up.. Happy Trails..

Pic of our desk here. --->> New desk and cabinets for our home
Had it make by a guy in Phoenix who assembles pre-made cabinets. We each have a set of drawers, as well as pullout keyboard trays and additional trays over the drawers.

Looks home made to me too. or custom made.. Ok here is how to do it.
Are you a member of Thousand Trils, Naco, or Encore?

Go to the Carolina Landing Thousnd trails RV park.

On the corner (The last one before the driveway) is the original sales building for the park, it is now owned by a former park employee who is a cabinet maker,, he converted it into a Home/Shop and the shop is called "Concepts in WOOD"

See him.
