Ok..The wife has asked me to pose a question regarding what you ladies and gentlemen use for dishes.
In other words, as we are getting rid of everything in order to full-time (getting closer), do we keep the breakable dishes for traveling?
Can you please help an old man and tell me what you guys use for your everyday dishes, glasses...etc.?
Thanks again.

Although I use unbreakable plates when traveling, if you (or she) wants to take the breakable dishes, buy a box of Staples 12" X 12" Foam Sheets, Item # 425888 & put one between each plate.

We use Corelle, they are light weight, almost unbreakable, and come in lots of different sizes, shapes and colors. You can usually find them at a Corning Wear outlet. Congrats! on almost full-timing it...don't think we'll ever get there.

we agree with above plus a supply of paper plates that we use when on the move so as to not need to wash dishes.

I use Corelle and glass glasses. If the glasses are on non-stick and there's not a lot of room for them to fall over, they do fine in the cupboard for traveling. I've never had a glass break while traveling. My own carelessness while sitting still?
Welcome to full-timing! Hope you enjoy it!

Corelle and plastic glass ware, or plastic cups (2 sizes). We also keep a large stock of paper plates and use them for most dinners and lunches. Our galley tank is separate from our gray tank and fills rather quickly. So paper plates seems to be the norm.
Corelle is almost unbreakable, but if you do drop one and it breaks, you can count on a "zillion" pieces if it hits just right. We also latch the overhead cabinet doors that hold the plates with bungee cord between the handles.

We have only lost one dish (bowl) in all the years we have been camping/RVing. I bought a large "set" of old Corelle at a couple of thrift stores. I kept them in the pop-up (no cushioning) and am still using them. I've used these same dishes for 15 years now and they were old when I bought them (gold butterfly pattern). In the pop-up we used canning jars for glasses (comes with a handy lid to keep the wasps from trying to drink the sodas and iced tea) mostly because I had so many of them (I used to have large gardens and canned most of the stuff so my jars numbered well over 500... not counting my antique jars). I never had a canning jar break. In the RV, I have big heavy glass beer steins... which never seem to get used. We tend to default to the canning jars. Depending on the size, I also use canning jars as storage containers for leftovers, "side" bowls or condiment cups (wide mouth 1/2 pints) for runny stuff or when using a "paper plate" and for baking in. We don't use real paper plates. We buy 12X12 waxed paper sheets (deli wrap) in boxes of 500 from Sam's club and use them for sandwiches, pizza or similar foods. Saves space and $$ over "real" paper plates. This is what works for us. We were both raised "country" so are accustomed to drinking out of canning jars and not eating on fancy plates. Corelle and canning jars are good enough for us. I know folks who would pass out if you suggested they drink out of a canning jar or use a "low class" plate such as Corelle. Paper plates would put them into a shock they would never recover from. Life is too short to worry about things like that.

Ditto Wayne!! Paper plates most of the time with the bamboo paper plate holders. Heavy duty paper plates for my grilling and serving -- most of the time we fix our plate at the kitchen counter. Very i-n-f-o-r-m-a-l!

I've been to one of Chief's finely prepared gourmet dinners...and when he's say informal....he means INFORMAL!!!!
I was OK until his dogs were allowed to walk on the kitchen counter!!! Now that's informal. He always did like those darn dogs better then me!! Boo Hoo! Just kiddin' of course!!! He's not in here much nowadays so I have to get a big abuse in!!!
We use Corelle and mostly plastic water glasses. Our fine wine glasses come from the Dollar Tree Store!!! And are glass. However, I've been known to drink wine straight out of the bag!!!
We do have some glass bowls which I put some to of the foamy stuff inbetween the bowls to cushion. This is the non slide stuff you line the cupboards and cabinets with to keep stuff from sliding around. Works very good.

Another little tip.......we put a small throw pillow in the microwave to keep the glass turn table from bouncing around while traveling.
Wish someone could put one on rockin'

I can sure tell your no FTer.......when we get ready to move, the inside the of microwave is chalked full of stuff. We do put down a towel on the glass turn table.
Speaking of towel......I need one right now to dry my tears....since you say soooooo much mean stuff to me. You keep it up....and I'm not gonna let you buy me lunch or stay the night for free on your shop parking lot!!!

When I went fulltime, I took my Pfaltzgraff and my glass drinkware with me. No problems.

easy
corel its pretty much unbreakable and comes in tons of many styles and designs, its not just round any more
glasses we have the normal glass ware form the house but put socks on em when traveling, these socks get rolled inside each other and sit in teh back of the cabinet until needed. i think my wife two dozen at a dollar store, boys tube socks (small)
and use the anti slip stuff between the plates so they dont rattle
the key for us is after they are washed and dried then the plates get put back in the ready for travel position so it only takes a few minutes to lock down the cabinet and off we go
