The 2011 International Rally will be in Essex Junction, Vermont. The dates are June 13 - 18. Early arrival days are June 11 & 12. It's too early for details, this is just to let you know so you can integrate this rally into your 2011 summer activities.

Hi 69RoadRunner,
There are no accommodations for children (ex. pools/ playgrounds) This is the same for all International Rally sites. Because of the size (400-1000 coaches) International Rallies are usually held at local fair grounds. These facilities are great for entertainment, meals, seminars, after market vendors, etc.

Except for 2009, Kids Kamp has been held at the rally for kids 0 - 14. However, in 2009 there was no volunteer couple to step up and take the lead, so the Kamp was not held.

I look at it this way. Kids Kamp or not, if we attend there is enough to do in the area that we would not have a problem keeping busy on touring. If you attend the International Rally, camping, meals and all other rally activities come with your rally fee. The only additional expense would be admission to activities that interest you.

For kids, a few that come to mind are:
  1. Tour the original Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory.
  2. Tour a teddy bear manufacturing facility.
  3. Board a boat and see shipwrecks at the bottom of lake Champlain.
  4. Take a ski lift ride to the top of a ski resort. It is a nice place to have lunch. It made me realize just how steep ski slopes are.
I'm sure there are are other things to do in the area.

One of the little know advantages to attending an International Rally is almost all the suppliers of your coach's components are there. Attendees can receive free diagnostic (they come look at your coach) on problems. Any repairs are at a greatly discounted price or gratis.

We used to go skiing in VT for the weekend before spending a week at Mt. Sutton in Quebec. We did this until about 2 BC (Before Children).

I'm not sure I could do the full length of the rally, but I'll keep this one in mind.

Thanks!

Excellent. We were planning on the Maritimes again in 2011, so this would be perfect to start off the trip.

Hey that's great for us east coast folks. Our son goes to school in VT and we often go there from our home in NJ. We just joined NKK and are looking forward to 2011!

Thank you Gary for the advance notice. The last time we attended the Essex Jct facility 2009 regional event there were some serious electrical issues. More than one coach owner received very costly damages. I'm sure that senior FMCA officers can confirm this. Can someone confirm these issues have been addressed?

My advice to anyone considering this event to either dry camp, make sure you have a electrical mangement system installed in your coach or stay off site.

One other minor annoyance, there is a automated / electronic bird screetcher that goes off about every 10 minutes. The purpose of which is to keep the pegions out of the grandstands. This did not set well with the light sleepers of the last FMCA rally.

Hi bdaball,
Thanks for the heads up. The NKK had the Int'l Rally there in 06. At that time there were no electrical problems and no bird screeching machine. I will pass this on to the NKK leadership.

For me, I have a voltage regulator and a surge protector.

As new NKK members, and residents of New Hampshire, we're happy to see that the NKK International Rally is being held in Essex Junction, Vermont. We'll be there for sure!

We attended an FMCA Northeast rally at Essex Junction in July, 2010, and experienced no electrical problems nor did we hear the 'bird alarm.' Maybe those issues have been resolved.
