We are really looking forward to the L & C Caravan being put together. It is our first and we will see if it is our last. LOL

Not to worry. The leaders (and tail gunner) are experienced. The caravan will be something to remember. My only caution is who you "hook up" with for travel and socializing. This may make or break the tour. There will be a wide range of people and personalities on caravans. If you get a couple who:
1. Leave about the same time in the morning.
2. Like similar sights along the day trip.
3. Similar view on conversations of the day.
4. Similar personalities about taking everything in stride and moving on.
you will enjoy the entire caravan experience.

The caravan Leaders are Larry and Katie Harrington, Region III Directors. They are wonderful people and experienced Caravan Leaders. You will have fun. Should be a great trip.

Hey guys, won't make the caravan with you, but wish you luck and good fortune. Hope Zeus won't miss Kay's "puppy cookies" too much! We'll hopefully hook up with y'all in Pueblo this Fall. Enjoyed your company in Nappanee and Charlotte! Upgrades to shocks (Koni) and my old steering made a WORLD of difference, especially through Chicago en route to Minnesota (didn't make the hundred bucks worth of tolls any less painful, though!)

East of Miles city is Glendive. There is a badlands state park there that should not be missed if possible. You will need the towed for it and preferably a 4 wheel drive one although most cars can do the roads.

When you leave Miles City you will be driving through lonesome country, in August you should expect HOT as it is desert country - I lived in Glendive and Terry for a few years so I know. Also be aware of thunderstorms as the wind and possible hail can be devastating.

Lewistown is interesting and if you fish, try the local creek or ponds. Fron there to Great Falls is more scenic and you will be in the mountains for part of the way. Check out the local area for museums and such.

In Helena, if there is time, check out the Historical society museum as it is interesting as is the Governor's Mansion.

The drive to Butte is interesting with places along the way where uranium was mined. Used to be open for viewing or exposure to radiation. Doubt that still happens though.

Not sure when you will get to Lewis and Clark caverns but rather than going from Helena to Butte directly, I would recommend taking 287 east from Helena, stopping at Three Forks junction and loading up on sandwiches, soup and rolls/pastries at the Wheat Montana Deli. Then on to the caverns, and on to Dillon for the night although I would recommend the campground at the caverns if it can be reserved this late in the season.

Dillon and the planned things there are great as is Missoula so please enjoy.
After you have seen the Big Hole Battle field, I would recommend the back road through Anaconda and Phillipsburg for the scenery and back country vistas.

The trip from Missoula is via US 12 which roughly follows the Lewis and Clark trail. It is quite scenic so enjoy!

I'm not going but I have read most of the entire journal. They were some tough people!!!

We went to Fort Clatsop a few years ago and found it interesting.
