I can't seem to find any wiring diagrams for the 110 volt part of of my new MH. Has anyone any better wiring diagrams or a source for them?
Actually the 12volt diagrams are pretty meager as well.

The only one that could help you there is Damon.I don't know if there is anything available but it won't hurt to ask. If you have general questions I can probably help you out. I'm sure the 08s are little different than the 04s but probably not too different.

Hi Sam,
I did like you said and talked with someone at Damon. I was promised a drawing would be sent to me. In these tough times I think that they want to be sure that every customer is satisfied. I'll pass along anything I get.

One of the reasons I want to see a wiring diagram was due to what I was told at the dealer. I was told that on the 50amp connector both of the 110v contacts must be on the same phase. Normally the 2 contacts are wired with the 2 110v lines on opposite phases. I think the dealer is wrong but I would feel better if I could see a wiring diagram.

Well Bruce I can answer that one with 100% certainty. You are correct, although your terminology could be argued as they are not really separate phases but many people refer to them as such. A 50 amp MH uses a standard 3 pole 4 wire 240/120 service just like a newer range service. If you connect to a service that in your terms is on one phase(hot leg) and not two you can overload the cord neutral as the current will add instead of subtract.

So not only is the dealer wrong but a outlet that is wired like they suggest would be flat out dangerous.

Here is a good site for RV electrical. You might want to show it to your dealer. http://www.myrv.us/electric/

I would also remind everyone, that while Damon is getting better at providing information, they have always had a hard time providing technical information of that level to "Non-Dealers". Keep on Damon until they provide you with the information. What I have learned, is to keep calling until you get what you want.

Good Luck!
Bill

Thanks Hurricaner, Thats exactly the way I thought it should be. Like you mention if the legs were in-phase the would need to carry the combined amperage which made no sense. I'm putting a socket in the garage to power the RV and your attachment is a big help
Thanks

Redapple,
To your comment, On Thursday I was promised a 110v drawing the next day. On Friday I didn't get the drawing but I did get an email saying they're working on it. I'll give them a couple more days to see if they come thru. I have my answer but it would be nice if they follow through on thier promise.
I'll let you know what happens
Thanks

Bruce,

Actually it would be easy for you to draw your own diagram for your particular coach with this device.

circuit tone tester

This would eliminate any changes done on the coach since it was manufactured, giving you a acurate circuit diagram to your coach.

I hope this helps.

One thing that is worth mentioning is you never want to run a shared neutral circuit IN a motor home. This is due to the fact that an RV might not have a slit phase service IE, when you connect to a 30 amp service.

I received 2 pdf files of wiring diagrams for the Challenger 371 from Damon. Both 110 and 12v details. I can't attach the pdf's directly but if anyone wants the files send me a message with your email address and I'll pass them along.
