I see this as having two options. The first is to find a local sign company the does vinyl graphics and see if they can match the color. They may even be able to put it on for you. We have one in Portsmouth that has a huge selection of available colors...even the ones that change colors...and they will trim any piece to match the original.

The other option is to eith have it painted or pait it yourself. A good auto pait store has a color matching scope that will allow them to match the color and mix the paint. Peel of the old decal, tape the area, sand it lightly and squirt it. I will go this route when the time comes.

We have had excellent luck with painting our stripe decals with spray paint. First tape off the area with blue masking tape and paper. Spray the edge with clear spray paint to set the edge line and prevent running. Use a clear paint of the same brand as the color paint. Spray lightly, in parallel lines reversing after hitting the paper so there is no buildup on the edges. Let first coat dry a few minutes and spray second coat while first coat is still tacky. If using a flat color paint, be sure to top with a clear shiny paint. Remove masking tape after 5 minutes or so.
When we had paint-custom mixed at an auto parts store, it turned out to be too thin and showed streaks. We had good results with Rustoleum and 5 Ball Krylon spray paint.

NormanOK,
Do you do any prep work like sanding the decal or cleaning prior to painting if there is a wax buildup?
