2001?? or 2002???

Hi again .... I have another question. When I purchased my used Intruder the dealer and paperwork all stated it was a 2001 model 369.

But looking at all the archived literature from Thor this model appeared in 2002. Also, the floor plan does not appear in 2001 brochures but is in the 2002 brochure.

Now I know all about how chassis get titled from different years than the coach's actual build date, but how can I definitively determine the model year of my unit. It may make a difference in obtaining certain parts or services.

Any ideas????

Thanks once more ..... you all are terrific!

Probably a 2002 house mistitled as a 2001 (chassis year). Some states do this even though it's not according to Federal Law.

Brochures and assorted literature are printed well in advance of the actual production. You will probably see in fine print on the last page that "specifications and colors, etc. are subject to change without notice". And change they do. Nothing to be concerned about.

Example: My 1995 Santara Owner's Manual has a picture of the 1996 Santara on the cover. I know it is a '96 as the body style changed completely in '96. My guess is when they sat down to create the manual artwork (well in advance of actual production) they were planning on releasing the new body style in '95 but couldn't for whatever reason. Too late to change it after everything has been printed already.

As commented. No big deal. Models and brochures do not have to align in years.

Go to VIN number for the vehicle. Starting from the left, the 10th digit represents the vehicle's model year, which is not to be confused with the year it was sold or delivered.

But is not the model year indicated in the VIN the chassis year? Is there anything that tells when the coach was made?

I would call the manufacturer and supply them the VIN and ask. Many crazy thing can occur at the end/beginning of a model year. Features and options get overlapped or omitted. There can be a lot of time and miles from when the chassis was first assembled until the MH is completely constructed. Example..... my '07 had '05 tires on it from new.

2001 or 2002 Intruder??

Hey old sarge...

I thought I was the only one that had a model 369 that was listed as a 2001.. years ago (i have had my coach since 04), Damon told me that they built 2002 369's earlier than 2002 and introduced them during 2001.

Hope you enjoy your Intruder as much as we do. We have traveled over 50K miles in ours and it has served us extremely well !!! We have a Ford chassis which has never left us stranded. There was a little issue with a spark plug blowing out of the head, but Ford was able to repair it and on our way we went.

Enjoy

on the standard VIN, the digit to the left of center is, as I recall, the model year.. A and Zero both equal ZERO, B & 1 = 1 C and 2 = 2, (They only encode the last digit). NOTE on some RV's this is the body year, On others it is the Chassis year.. Chassis may be older than the body. Mine is but only about six months. (Chassis in Aug 2004 (Thus it's a 2005, Body is 2005 May).

My 2001 is a 2000 chassis (it's typical to have a previous model year chassis), but also when I look in the 2000 brochure, on the page with all the different floorplans, it shows mine, but says "Not available until Dec 2000". So basically all of them are 2001s, but I guess they just wanted to release details about it for early 2000. Manufacturers often do that, usually so they can say they have comparable models to other companies, or be the first to market with certain features (even though they aren't actually available yet haha).

Car companies do the same thing with late availability, although they are no longer allowed to sell a late model year build as the next year, at least not that I know of. They used to do that occasionally though.
