Went to perform monthly generator maintenance today and could not get it to start.
Chassis battery had 14.2 volts with motor running, voltage at generator was 9.1 volts.
For giggles I checked the voltage on the house batteries, 9.3 volts.
My question is does the generator use the house or chassis battery for starting?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I believe it is the house battery. You may also have an emergency switch which will allow the generator to crank from the chassis battery. John H....

For now to get it to crank you can start the RV and that will charge the coach batteries. This won't fix your problem with the low charge on the coach batteries but should crank your generator.
