Hi- Can anyone give me some thoughts on this motor home... I fell in love with the floor plan ( that was the easy part)...long story short...I inquired to purchase this from a private owner and he told me the unit had so many problems,( this is the 2011 mind you) one being that he bought it in the first place ..... well that took me back to say the least ...since he was selling it. Ok I need some sage advice here. We can't find much about this model...basically anything I could learn would be a help. I hear bad about Thor and then good. Is this a good motor home company? reliable? We now own a Georgie Boy 1999 and oh so need a new MH...spending 5 months on the road. Thanks so for any info you share.

Steph,

There are many Damon owners on this site and I'm sure that they would be willing to share their experiences with you. A new or used motorhome sometimes does not see the majority of coach problems completely resolved until after about 1 year of ownership.

I agree with DriVer's comment that it takes a long time to resolve all of the issues with a new motorhme. That should not be, but it is what it is.

I do, however, question spending 5 months in a 28' 11" motorhome. A few days or a week might be tolerable but 5 months would be "pushing the envelope," IMHO. Just a thought!

Good luck with your search for the right unit.

I have a 2001 Daybreak 32' and my wife and I intent to spend the next 3 months in it. I don't think we will have a problem. We have spent 7 weeks before and had no problem. In fact, we love it.

Thor/Damon is no better or worse then any other RV manufacturer in the same price range. I have friends with other brands that have similar problems with their rigs. I have a 2011 Daybreak and after a few warranty issues, I love it. The Ford engine pulls great, and everything works well. We put about 5K miles on this year and are happy campers.

I would question a seller that complains about the item he is selling. One should be honest about item they are selling, but why complain about the RV to someone who is interested in purchasing it? That would seem fishy to me, if not about the RV, about the seller.

Sounds like the seller is a whiney overly honest type. I'd beat the hell out of him on the price if I liked it that much and then use the money you save to have the issues resolved. Think of a motor home as your house going throught a CAT 2 hurricane and earthquake every time you drive it, they are bound to have things go wrong during the first few shakedown rides.

As long as there are no leaks, the motor and transmission are OK, and the major appliances all seem to function as they should, I'll bet you can deal with the little things just fine. Once that's handled you should be in good shape for your trip.

Make the whiner pay and negotiate a great deal for yourself.
