Hi,
I am kinda new to RVing. Bought a new 08 Tuscany 4076 last Sept. Have Had it on a 5 week junket to Florida Jan-Feb. Everything worked great on the trip. When we picked the unit up back in Sept. The pdi walk through the teck pointed out that the Counter top wasn't attached properly to the wall. About a 1/4 inch gag at one end. And that they would get it fixed when we returned from a short trip. We took it back to them and they kept it for about 6 weeks. Picked it up and went to Fla. but the counter top wasn't fixed correctly. When we got back from Fla took it back to the dealer with a few other small odds and ends that were discovered on the trip. They've had it now for 8 weeks. I called then every week tring to put some pressure on them. Kept getting the we are working on it, waiting for parts. waiting for authorization excuses. Finally in desparation I called Damon and complained. well got the finger pointing route. I asked about taking it to Damon to fix it and he recommended a service center that was closer to me. OK, I called my dealer to tell them would pick it up the next day. Well,, all of a sudden the parts they were waiting on came in yesterday. We went down to look at it and it looks like they may have gotten the counter top fixed. They also needed to replace the fabric for the awning. ok, Now I'm told the awning brack was broken and they have ordered it but it's on back order expected 2 weeks for it to come off back order.

Is this normal for Class A motor homes? Don't manufacturers keep any parts inventory? Sure takes the fun out of owning one of these.

Thanks for listening,
Ron

Yes it is unfortunately.

There are many Great Dealers across the country, your's apparently is not one of them. De be shinein ya on Son!

Nothing takes 6-8 weeks except birth after conception for certain small mammals.

Normal particularly now. Manufacturers, dealers and venders no longer have any inventory due to the economy. Inventory costs lots of precious capital and no one has capital meaning no one is carrying any inventory. Lots of parts are now made ONLY when there is sufficient order quantity to warrant a production run, that can take weeks/months for specialized/uncommon parts. It really is a bad inventory landscape out there in anything manufactured, especially the hard hit RV supplier chain. It's a freaking mess right now and we the RV owners are at the very end of that long and completely out of kilter supply chain.

My thoughts exactly. But I can't for the life of figure out the benefit to them stalling like this.

Based on my experiences with numerous dealers, some are more concerned with getting the sold units off their lot instead of taking care of the ones that have left the lot. A detailed PDI is critical and you must stand your ground if the unit is not up to speed. They will work their butt off to get the papers signed and the unit off the lot. Once the money changes hands, so does their priorities. It got to the point on my last purchase, I told them to give me all of my warranty parts and I took them home and did the work myself.

Are there some good ones out there and are there some really screwed up logistical chains? Yes, but many of my issues were well before the current economic down turn. The only excuse they had then was operating on a flawed business model which had little or no concern for returning customers.

I have two cents
two thursdays ago we were to take delivery of a 08 4056, we did a thorough walk around and pdi, and i kept asking about the OIL dripping off the engine...
come on this puppy sat in the lobby for months, surely somebody saw the oil dripping when they started it and back it out of the lobby, or maybe during there so called test of all the systems, or maybe when they CHECKED the oil and antifreeze levels, but nooooo. this was not a little oil either, but a big arsed puddle that kept growing the longer the engine idled

so we held up the signing of documents until cummins determined if it was good or bad .... it was bad.
lucky for us they had the same coach at the other store and we snatched it up. talk about folks jumping through hoops and trying to get it right...

bottom line is i agree , they will leap tall buildings when the money is about to change hands...but once you leave its like you dont exist.
this week i had to call the head manager everyday until i finally wore his voice mail out, now i have my items that we discovered on the ride home were missing.
i will also say coming from a very nice fiver to a class A was a big leap...
and the price these puppies go for i should have ZERO post inspection issues, or water leaks.
