My 08 Astoria PE has the 42" tv mounted mid-coach. It is buried in a cabinet, and I'd like to have access to the back of the TV to plug in a PC monitor cable or maybe a game console for the kids (someday).
I looked at the post to which the mount is screwed, and that is not screwed in any obvious way to the shelf on which it rests or the floor of the cabinet above.
Can anyone give me a hint how to get the big TV off the wall (in such a way that it will go back on )

Generally you remove the trim that is around the television's front, and then.... how to remove the tv itself becomes obvious. Generally.. Another method is wait, and it will fall out due to vibration looseni....oh, you said you want to be able to put it back in (This does not always happen by the way folks)
One thing I like about my front mounted main TV is that if you sit upon the dash and shove your head up between the windshield and the cabinet the TV is mounted in there is the neatest little air vent there, about 18" by 12", more than big enough, once you remove the half dozen or so screws, to look in and see how the idiot cabled the A/V lines to the TV from the video switch and re-connect them to the PROPER ports. (need I say more)

I have a Damon Tuscany with the mid-mounted TV and I am going to assume your's is mounted like mine. If you look closely above and behind the TV you will see four screws, there are four more below, remove these screws and your TV will come out. You will need someone to help you because the TV is HEAVY. It takes a very long driver to reach the screws and the screws are long. The cords go thru a hole behind the TV and up to the cabinet above. I used some books to prop up the bottom of the TV so it would be easier to line up the holes when I re-installed it. It's not hard to do but it is a pain. Good luck and HAPPY RVing.

So if I understand you corrrectly, the post that the TV mount is screwed into doesn't come out, but rather I need to get at the screws holding the mount to the post? I'll have another look from the bottom. Thanks.

All responses are correct. We too have an 08 Astoria and one of the first mods I did was to add an articulating arm mount so that I can easily pull the tv out by myself.

That is a great idea. May I ask which mount you used, and how you secure the TV from swinging around when underway?
I have 0 experience w/ TV mounts.
Thanks.

I purchased the mount at Costco, but any articulating arm will do; I have also installed a 40" in the basement on an arm from HHGregg that I actually like better. Basically, I removed the fixed mounting plate used by Damon and cut the lower portion off. I then installed the remaining section of the Damon mount between the TV and the new mount. I added blocking on the on the top portion of the wall where the old mount screwed in equal to the depth of the new mount when folded; this allows me to put a couple screws in just as before to keep the whole assembly from freely swinging while driving. To access the back, I simply remove the two top screws just as before (no more bottom screws) and I can then swing the tv out. The mount is quite shallow, so the front face of the TV is still a little shy of the front edge of the cabinet.
