I've been kicking around the idea of mounting a remote spotlight to help out when pulling into campgrounds after the sun has gone down.
I was thinking the best place would be on the roof at the corned above the passenger seat although behind the grill would make it easier and put it out of the way although limiting the side to side light availability.
The Golight Stryker looks to be weather proof but at close to $300.00 I'm not convinced I'll get enough use to justify it although the wireless remote will allow me to use it from the campfire to look into the woods at night
If any of you have one, do you find it useful?

I went through this myself and here is where I wound up:
I have toyed with the idea (another gadget) but have finally decided I would seldom use it if at all. Friend of mine has one, came with his rig---it is very pretty----but completely new he has never used it----nine years, not once.
You may use your rig in a different way (more likely to be pulling in at night) but there are so many really nice flashlights or plug in spot beams now---for the occassional use.
But. hey, one more gadget---it is compelling I know. Good luck in your decision.
I'm certainly not trying to discourage you just sharing my similar experience---food for thought.

Yep, I'd finish njs42's comments just they way he did. Remote Golight spot came on camper when new some 5 years ago - I full time solo and do a lot of night rig maneuvers - used it only a couple times "because it was there" not because it served a valuable need. If you install it, the tip of the day is to always "store" it turned backwards so the bugs do not clog up the lens.
My handheld spotlight I stash under the driver chair sees frequent "good thing I had it" use.

You know. You're right in that I was looking for just another gadget to play with. I'm glad I posted here because you both told me what I should have already know but didn't want to admit.
Now where can I get a really cool flashlight

Just in case you are not kidding about the flashlight:
Maglite® Flashlights, XL50 LED, XL100 LED, XL200 LED, Mini Maglite LED, Solitaire, Mag Charger Aircraft aluminum---rugged life time construction---from little ones AAA battery to huge D cells---lots of light---I have one of these beside my drivers seat. They are available all over the place
If you want to increase sophistcation look at the Fenix Flashlights----you can spend a lot of money there (hey I want one) and it migfht satisfy your urge to spend some dough.
Let your light shine.

My first motorhome was an 81 Foretravel. It came with a remote control roof mounted spotlight. I used it a couple of times. It really didn't do much. I don't miss it.

I ran across a wed forum for flashlight aficionados and it was very informative and fun. You'd be amazed at how many people as serious about Lumens and Beam Shots!
