Atwood Water Heater question

Last time I took my rig out I plugged into 50 amp as usual and noticed the electrical switch on the monitor panel didn't light up like the gas side when turned on. The unit gave hot water OK, but I thought the electrical switch lit up like the gas side. I read the manual, but it didn't seem to address my concern.

Is that the way things work or am I looking at a switch problem?

See what it does the next time out. Could be a bad bulb. Could be something else. Could be nothing. If it was heating OK and you did not have the gas turned on it sounds like the light is bad. Specific diagnosis requires a better understanding of that system.

My switch on the panel quit lighting up with I have the water heater on Electric. It's just the bulb in the switch that is not working. On mine you have to replace the switch. It's on my to do list but not that major since the water heater still works.

I have a Damon Daybreak. My light doesn't light unless the pilot light goes out, its the same thing like on your refrigerator. Mine is a check light not an on light.

The switch contains what is known as a "Grain of wheat" type lamp 12volt by the way,, the switch is a 12 volt switch...

The lamps burn out fairly quickly

Two or 3 options

1: New switch
2: Ignore it
3: Do what I did.. I got a LED assembly..this is a plastic tube, red and black wires coming out one end, Lens and metal ring on the other end

Drilled the proper size hole, Shoved the assembly into the hole.. Shoved a "Speed nut" (Piece of formed spring steel) over the leads and onto the body and up against the back side of the panel and hooked the wires to the switch

Black wire goes to the "ODD" wire on the switch

Red goes to one of the other two leads.. IF light is on all the time,, Try the other lead

(You will understand "ODD" when you look at the back of the switch)

The 12volt LED assembly should outlive me.
Home is where I park it!
