I have a 2009 Damon Daybreak and the back camera monitor is not working. I would like to replace it with a color monitor. In order for a color monitor to work do I need to replace the camera as well? If so, I imagine the existing wires would work. I would ultimately like to have the monitor fit inside the dash area where the existing monitor is. I don't want to spend $1,000 any suggestions.

Hi Leary54,

Thanks for responding

Where you able to put the monitor into the existing area where the old one fit, or does it sit on top of the dash? Can you be more specific on where to go on ebay and what kit you bought?

Steve

Here's an idea. Check this out
4 Channel Surveillance DVR with 4 Cameras and Mobile Monitoring Capabilities

I saw on another post where someone added a camer pointing out the passanger window for a side veiw. It gave me an idea. This system runs on 12 volts and you could add backup, side veiws and a forward facing. It also may reduce insurance as it is a security system and doubles as a recoder in the event of an accident.

I have other project to finish first but i am adding this to my list.

Are you sure the monitor is bad? I had a problem with mine and it turned out to be the fuse holder (white plastic) was of poor design and the fuse was not making contact to the inside tabs. Take the fuse out and touch the 2 metal tabs to each other and see if the monitor goes on. Make sure the fuse is not blown first. If it is blown do not try this because this means you have a short somewhere and could be dangerous.

Thanks Tony,

I will try that first. My dealer told me the monitor was bad, so I will check this out.

Th screen flickers even now when it's turned off. I haven't had a chance to check the fuse or plugs. I hope to do that this weekend.
