I have an S binder that I carry my keys on. I keep the hood key on a seperate ring. My ignition and fuel cap key on a seperate key ring. And the house and compartment door keys on a third ring.

On the way home last Sunday we stopped at McD's for dinner I locked the coach as I always do, by flipping the lock on the way out the door. Halfway to the resturant I realized I didn't have the keys with me. Wife asked me what I was going to do I said I don't know I will deal with it after we eat.

After eating I dumped the tray and kept the box from my fries. Stopped at the rear compartment to get out the 3 step step ladder. I set it by the drivers side and climbed up to the window and had it unlocked and open in under 10 seconds. Then because of health reasons I looked around and a kid that worked at McD's was walking out the door at the end of his shift. I asked him how agile he was and he popped through the window and unlocked the door before I could get around to the door. Then he borrowed my cell phone and that was it. We were on our way.

I have said before on these boards that I didn't miss not having a driver's door, but this is about the only time I could use one.

If I had to I could have climbed through the window but it wouldn't have been graceful, and might have been painful.

Oh, and the Keys??? In the lockout switch for the slide, right where I left them a few hours before.

What I do to avoid ever being locked out from losing or forgetting keys. I have a compartment key hidden in a magnetic case. That key gets me to a hidden door key in a compartment. That gets me in the MH where I have extras in cabinets. Every time I buy a new car, the first thing I do is hide a key somewhere accessible from the outside. Hate being locked out. John H....

My wife and I each have a set of keys, we have a set hidden in the coach and have a set wired on the frame under the coach. In 20,000 miles, have not needed the under the coach ones, but I know I will someday. We hide the ignition key close by in the coach and it never leaves the coach. My wife locks herself out of her car when we are at home about once ever seveal months. She doesn't even tell me any more. Just leaves the keys and wire on the kitchen table.

My wife has her own set as well, but relys on my carrying mine and leaves hers in her purse in the MH.

My wife also has a set, but I still never want to be locked out and find out her keys are still in the MH. John H....

I make a habit of using the key to lock the door, not just flipping the lever.

On my MH the propane compartment can not be locked. In there, I have drilled a hole in one of the angle iron pieces used to mount the propane tank and then using a Master door key keeper (like they use to show homes for sale) I have put a key for the MH in there for emergency uses. Stays out of the weather and is secure.

When Hubby drives, my keys are always in my purse, and I don't get out of the truck without it. And, when I drive, Bill keeps his keys in his pocket. We're constantly either bumping the lock switch on our way out of the truck, or somehow bumping the lock key on the keyring.

I hide a single entry door key outside the MH in a very difficult to find location. No hidden ignition key, no hidden compartment key, etc. This way, if a thief finds the spare key, the MH can't be started. That is, unless I have locked the keys in the MH.
