Did a quick turn around trip up to the Kern River this weekend. Got my first good taste of driving across desert in the wind. Little stressful but everything went fine.

Once we got to the campground i found the Site was a bit small for my 35' even though it was listed to be able to handle 40'. No problem only scraped my exhaust pipe on one rock.

Then as i put out the living room slide i noticed it was not goinng out well, So i stopped brought it back in looked around the inside for problem. Found none. Looked outside found none. Tried again. Still had the problem of it not going out right, Seemed to be binding on the top. Went outside looked again and found the Slide Awning had not rolled up correctly last time put away. The awning had some how folded under itself as it rolled up. Well now the cross bar is bent from the 2 a temps to put it out (Even though i only went out about 4 inches). Upon further inspection i found that i put my foot on the support and pushed the Awning away from the Slide, It would allow the slide to come out about 4 inch, Then back in, Back out 4 more inches and so on, Each time i am unfolding the awning as we go.

30mins later slide is out and all is well, Except i have bent support now. Anyways the rest of the trip went great. The slide and awning came back in with no problems.

I will make an appointment to get it looked at and see what it will take to get it fixed.

Kevin

Hi PineKap...hopefully the awning will be a quick fix.
How far across the desert did you have to drive?
Where did you stay, that the sites were small?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Sue.

I drove across the Mojave in California approx 45miles.

We stayed at Fairview Campgrounds on the Kern River. Note that not all the sites were to small. But the one they gave me said it was ok for 40ft, And i Barely fit with my 35.

I found that the Blue-OX True Center device helped when driving my Intruder in a steady wind (or for that mater no wind at all)

Unlike all the other steering stabilizers you can "Re-Center" it from the driver's seat using no tools other than your finger or thumb

The rest of 'em require a wrench and hammer
