Yea heat it up and take it off then use isopropyl alcohol to remove the glue and any wax. I'll post pictures after I'm done.

Decal removal

Well I received all the marron decals and removed 2 from the passenger side doors and the back. Best way to remove tape is with a heat gun and plastic puddy knife. The glue is another issue. I tried almost everthing and found WD-40 to work best. Next have to pre-cut decals then use a spray with water and soap so I can position decal and then squeegy the water out.

Decals are on

Today was a lot cooler than the past 3 weeks so I applied the 3 decals and they came out pretty good. I used soapy water to apply them so I could move them and then squeegeed the the water out.

Decals

Sorry but that took too long just to do 3 stripes, it's not something I like to do. Getting that glue off is time consuming.

The price for our decals to be removed and replaced is between 2800.00 and 3000.00. The guy said they are heck to remove . Ours was cracking and peeling away also. Graphix sent the decals for free . Our motorhome is 2007 damon daybreak . It was 2 months out of warranty when they started cracking so am working with damon to see what they will pay .

Sorry to hear what it cost you to replace the decals. Yes it is a pain to remove the glue on the aluminum but the decal is hard to renove on the fiberglass. I didn't want to heat it too much but it came off in small pieces.

They are sending new decals to me. Thanks for the info. They said to try a sign shop to put them on for they are cheaper than dealers. If I do it myself - do you put any glue on them to hold in place or just soap and water? Do you put something over them once in place?

First I didn't replace all of them, that would take a loooooong time. I did the back and 2 of the compartment doors. I used a heat gun, WD-40 and a plastic puddy knife (several of them, they melt). On the aluminum doors it wasn't too bad to take them off, but the back being fiberglass you have to be careful not to get it too hot. Spray with wd-40, then heat and scrape. Once they are off I washed the area with Dawn dishsoap, several times. To put them on, once you have them in the size you want, spray the area with water and little soap and put the decal in position. Next squeegee the water and bubbles out and when done just let them dry in place.

Good luck!

By the way I tried alcohol, goo be gone, lighter fluid, cooking oil and other stuff and wd-40 worked best.

Yinyl Off

Yinyl-Off by Crystaltek is the only chemical I have found to help remove graphics. It is 3 times faster than using a heat gun alone.

Without the Vinyl-Off, I spent 3 days removing the vinyl on one side of a bus. With the Vinyl-Off the other side took 5 hours.
