RTDR is probably "Retarder" and may refer to an exhaust brake or transmission retarder device. Perhaps this is nitpicking, but a 3126 Cat does not have an "engine brake" - that particular technology is not available for it. It may be equipped with an exhaust brake or transmission retarder, which accomplished similar results using different technology/method.

My guess would be that with the RTDR switch on, you will get braking whenever you remove your foot from the accelerator pedal, or perhaps only when you press the brake with no accelerator pressure. The exact technique can vary with thetype of device and its programming. It may automatically downshift the tranny when it engages, or you may have to downshift manually. Lower gears enhances the braking effect.

Sounds like you should use it and see what happens. It might stand for retarded.

GaryRVRoamer is corect. The RTDR button is for the exhaust/transmission retarder. When the switch is in the on position and you remove your foot from the accelerator the exhaust/transmission retarder will engage automatically.

I have this system on my 2004 Escaper with a 3126E Cat.
