Damon Vacuum Cleaner Operation

Help - Help:

Co-Pilot threatening to strangle me if I do not get the built in vacuum cleaner running.

• Cannot find the switch to turn it on.
• We plug the hose into the wall but that does not activate the dust-buster either.
• Have checked to ensure it is plugged in to the outlet in cargo bay, but she no run.

Any help saving my neck would be appreciated.

start by trying to power it up with an extension cord from a known power source or
plug a test light into the socket its plugged into
on most built in vacs plugging the hose in the vac outlet turns the unit on this is accomplished thru a low voltage relay.i have been a vac repair tech for about 50 yrs

hey hey
there is a small plastic contact switch just inside the hose receptacle, some times it ......comes unplugged
you will need to remove the cover plate and then you can gently pull the whole thing out of the wall,
UNPLUG the vac first, even though its low voltage at the switch
then ohms check the switch.

if that isn't it
try to floor switch dustpan thingy and remove it, mine for some reason gets dusty.
and the wire nuts have been known to un-nut themselves.
we are lucky as most of the wiring is accesible through the basement
you can bypass both switches at the vac to see if the wiring is not connected
my wiring at eh vac runs up and across the frame member and was not very secure, this may also be a spot to put and eyeball on the connections.

Like the others said, first verify the power supply to the vacuum. Then check the remote inlet valve where you plug the hose in. There will be two wires going to it, usually 24V, jumper them together and the unit should turn on. If it still doesn't turn on then you have a problem with the circuit board or the motor in the vacuum.

Hey I might be able to weigh in on this issue. We had the same trouble.

Come to find out, it has to run on AC, which means you're either plugged in to shore power or your inverter is turned on.

If it works with an extension cord plugged in to a known AC 110v power supply, then you're probably trying to operate it with your inverter off.

Check power and the switches.
