I have a particularly "sticky" entry door on our 2006 Dayreak, requires a very hard pull to open lately...in fact it seemed on Christmas eve when my wife and I went out to get some Santa presents stashed in the RV that the door would not open at all..was locked..(the second security lock which we never use could not find the key for that lock) and had to climb in partially open passengers window.

Anyone had this door handle fail? Any help would be appreciated.

This is the one on the Daybreaks...

Trimark

I had to replace the lock because the dealer lost all the originals. I may still have the plans for it. I will look. There is an adjustment of the dead bolt that may cause sticking, but not likely. I would check the door seal, you may have lost the foam seal and be sticking on the adhesive.

Unfortunately, there are not many reasons for an RV door to stick. Look for the low hanging fruit first, the rest are expensive, such as water intrusion into the door causing it to warp, or the wall changing the shape of the opening.

Good luck,
Bill

I have a 2007 Daybreak and the door was hard to close and open. The striker plate as I would call it is mounted with 2 screws to the door frame. If you loosen the screws you can move the plate up or down and in and out. In your case I would try moving it out some and try the door to see if it improves it.

I had the same problem with my 2009 Challenger. The problems was the two pins that look like bolts that stick out from the door at the lock came loose and were not aligning with the striker. I had to shoulder the door open from inside. Then from the outside as you close the door you can see which way they are misaligned. If they are too short or too long they use a T30 troxs to adjust.

I had coaches from the past where the screws holding the two halves of the door latch assembly were always backing out and the whole latch would loosen and becomme mis-aligned. A non-permanent thread locker seemed to solve the problem.
