BFlinn Thanx.
IS THERE ANY TYPE COVER TO MINIMIZE DINGS .....i CHECK SOME COVER DEALERS ONLINE. Actually had not considered the paint dinging as we traveled :(

My son in law is also a VW geek. Has 7, and currently working on a 23 window also for eventual resale.

Thanx for the advice. Also considered electric bikes or gas mopeds.
And Since we rarely travel within snow months or stormy states.
But realize we would be vulnerable to such weather and would minimize the use of such weather affected transport.

Thanx ... For twin diesel fills and tank cap info...I had not considered that.
And all the other tips and tricks...appreciated !
I also just got back from Harbor Freight after putting together 50 ft of compressor tubing for blowing and weatherize the water lines using the existing air compresser on board. Will be nice to do that IN A MORE SOUTHERN STATE before arriving back home IN NORTHERN NEVADA. And especially not having to haul water tank back north, then doing it in driveway in cold weather.

I don't know of any cover that wouldn't do more damage by flapping in the wind. There are guards you can but on the trailer front to protect the bug - - from bugs and rocks.

Bought my '63 VW bus for $500 in 1968, drove it for 4 years, and sold it for $550. Now it would be worth upwards of $25,000.

VW 1969 Bug

Bought our 69 Red ( Ruby) Beetle for $4,500 last year and I would say we have right at $9,500 in it at this time. Mostly an act of love and fondness remembering one we had when married and first child. Remember letting the 2 children ride in back window well above engine FOR SAFETY
Today we would be arrested for child negligence.

BTW we lived in Waynesville, Ohio re: Sauerkraut festival and Antique Shoppes. Where we lived for 24 years in restored and renovated Catholic Church St Augustines. Had a Import and Custom Woodworking Business. Also built The Village Square Shoppes at the front of property of main & high st. Maybe you have visited the village.
