Today i pulled my panel off that access the water heater bay from inside the coach, even though the tank is insulated it still puts out some nice warmth to the bedroom floor and i was looking at a good place to install a small computer fan to help distribute this waste heat and direct it at the floor by the bed so this winter we will have a nice warm floor to step on first thing.

anywho back to the block heater, the switch for it it near wher i am going to put the fan and i figured since i had everything open i would do a voltage test and make sure all was working. the switch had power as did the light, but no power to the block heater cord that drops down from the doghouse.
soooooo i start back tracking and discover if you remove the drawer under the closet, there is an outlet....and right beside it on the floor was the block heater wire, somehow it was not plugged in.

i plugged it in and redid my checks and BAM we got juice

i got to thinking abotu why it had been left unplugged and thought maybe it is a dealer (plugg in ) thing so that folks looking at the RV's dont turn on the block heater and walk away.
sooooo
if you folks havent put eyes on that plug, you might want to

the drawer is bit tricky to remove. I laid on the bed and leaned over and then pushed the tracks back as i released the locks, there is jsut enough room to then lift it above your head.

Robert,
The block heater should turn itself off after about one minute automatically. This is to prevent someone from leaving it on. That's the way it is in my new coach which is very similar to yours.

I agree it should turn off, but i wasn't getting voltage on the cable that was plugged into the block, and i would have never thought they put a switched outlet in line, i figured the switch on the panel was a direct connection to the block heater

Sorry but that cannot be correct. We used the enginer block heater overnight in 11 degree cold when we were in DC in January. It had the motor heated up so when I started it the next morning it was very easy and fired right off. It had been setting in below freezing weather for 10 days....
