Question EPDM roof

I found out today that the PO had used an acrylic Dicor roof coating on the roof. What would be the proper way to clean this off prior to using a dicor Liquid roof coating? The roof is showing some black membrane.

Thanks in advance.

I can't find anything on the web about removing that stuff. I assume you mean Elastomeric Dicor - the catalyitic (2-part) coating that is designed to go over all of the EPDM roof?

It's supposed to be a "lifetime" product. I'd talk to Dicor on it. You may be looking at patching the spots you're concerned about after priming. As a 2-part system, it's probably not very subject to solvents... Alternately, the big job is to pull all the EPDM and lay down a new rubber membrane.

What I found is that there is a primer that goes on first then the one part coating goes on over that. It looks more like a paint coating than what liquid roof coating looks like.

The cleaner primer is step one, it 'prepares' the roof for better adhesion of the part 2. The part 2 is called Acrylic Coating and is meant for an EDPM roof. That is the proper treatment. If the black is showing through, the PO only put one coat over a very weathered roof. I'd get the part 1 cleaner primer and then coat with the part 2.
