I just finished replacing the 13" bedroom TV with a new 20" LCD HDTV. Took out the old cabinet that housed it and just wall mounted the flat screen. Larger TV and won't be banging my head on the cabinet any more when I get out of bed either.

Well, I thought I was including a jpeg of the TV, but not sure how to attach a picture. If anyone would like to see it or can tell me how to attach a jpg in a post, I'll add it. Thanks, John H....

Hi John! I use Photobucket. Download the pictures there. Each picture is given an url by photobucket. Copy and paste the url on the page that opens up when you click the "Display image" button. Easy.

Looks great!
You did a good job.
Now not the technical question you wanted, but....
Can you tell me what you use to polish your cabinets? They look immaculate.
Thanks, Sue

Awesome job, John! That may be a project for this summer. Where did you buy the tv? I think my cabinets are closer to the tv than yours. I'll have to measure and see.

Chandler, I had 28 1/2" between the doors. The TV is a 26" Vizio which I got brand new on e-Bay. The 26" is made especially for W-mart and sells there for $464. I used a flat, close to the wall, mount, so it is as close to the cabinet as I could get it. I still have a little finishing to do along the bottom where the old TV extended down. Thanks, John....

Can you access the space behind the TV?

I'll measure mine later but I think it's different. I went through this last year and I seem to remember that I needed a square TV and they were hard to find.

Thanks John..Nice to hear from you!

Chandler, Yes I can access it if need be. I just have to take off trim and loosen two screws in the mount and TV comes right off. LCD's are not square, which is why I had to trim out the bottom. I just came in from doing just that. I reinstalled the plastic piece that went around the old TV and filled in the space below with some matching apholstery material from the couch. If you would like, I could e-mail you more pix or post some. John H....

Would you? That would be great! I'm thinking of either a flip up, gas assisted strut arrangement or a side hinge. I'm prepapered to do some serious engineering if need be. I have a 19" TV now and to fit in my space it would have to drop to 15". I still need to get out and measure. Your pictures will help a lot.

Chan
