We are looking into doing some of the things on your list. We have dealt with Mike & Keith at Redlands Truck & RV Performance before so we will go see them to have our stuff done on the Damon soon.

Hi GTS,

If I may suggest, you should post this question in the relevant chassis forum (Ford or Workhorse/Chevy) and give specifics to your chassis year as this will apply to all chassis within that brand not simply the coach maker (Damon). You should get some good responses and suggestions then.

On our last gas rig ('99 Santara/460 Ford) I had a Banks system installed. Made a big difference but, since I used the added power, no difference in fuel mileage. That was back before I knew what I do now as I had Camping World do the install and had no problems. Then I had CW install a larger inverter on or 2000 Dutch Star, after that fiasco I have never had them work on my rigs again.

One of the issues with CA smog stuff is the need for each component to be certified for that particular vehicle (at least with cars). I had a cold-air kit on an eclipse V-6 that was made for a Galant. That was a no-go and I had to swap the thing out every time I got smogged. They will cheek the cert tag against the approved vehicle list.

That said, I don't know how they do this with RV chassis, so I'd tread lightly until you get info from a source you can believe. In fact, I'd make it a condition of rolling out of the shop that the vehicle pass a new smog test. It's only about 50 bucks, and could prevent major heartache down the road.

Tony,

Did you know there was a Workhorse SSC "Super Sport Chassis" factory option?
Was headers, cold air kit, and some other stuff.
See: Pictures of Workhorse SSC Headers
And
http://www.workhorseclub.com/index.c...hotocatid=2392

This L.A. area shop will copy the 50 state legal set-up - and more...or you could do it yourself.
Workhorse RV Motorhome Performance Parts - Workhorse Vortec 8.1L Performance Packages - Cylinder Heads, Camshafts, Stroker Kits - Raylar Engineering

If you do it, remember, there is a known issue with the OEM exhaust manifold studs breaking off.

Best luck and hope you share about anything you do.

Yes I allready checked with my smog guy, he warned me to get a certified kit so I wont have trouble. My other option is to register it in AZ., like so many do

Sorry - thought you had the W24. The pics only show close-ups of the Chassis parts and stuff and are not specific to an particular RV.

SO - there's lots of Ford Truck resources with headers, 5 Star Tune, etc.

Best luck.

Tony, I have the w-24 8.1 chevy chasis. I went with banks headers and had ecm reprogramed. Put headers on in one day only had to add to one side to bolt up to cats. Bought stuff from Brazzels. he gave me good price being Irv member. Runs like a scalded dog now!! Did not go with cold air induction because I did not want to hear the intake moaning going down the road. Just went with K&N filter instead. Would go it again in a heart beat. Only got about 1 mile per gallon gain at 72 mph.
from another Tony
