After several days of looking I cannot find the OBD2 port. I need help from someone who has a Damon similiar to mine. Mine is a 98 Intruder on a 97 F53 that was made in 96. Maybe it does not have one, shouldn't I also be able to find a computer control(ECM) box somewhere? It has a "check engine light" so must have a OBD. I think OBD1 started in 95 and OBD2 in 1996. The VIN has my Damon as a 97. I believe law has it that the connection must be within 1 meter of the steering column. Any help, anyone please.

I don't believe that your year has an OBD2. I don't think Damon converted until 99 or 2000.

Thanks so much for the responce. You may be right but I have to convince myself that you might be wrong. I have a "check engine light", and I don't think Damon would have any say in this as it should be a Ford thing. This was my main point in buying a newer MH was to make sure it was 96 or newer. My prior MH was a 1983 Pace Arrow on a P30 454 Chev. In Phoenix we have to do the emission test thing. Every year it was many dollars and numerous rechecks to pass. So I dumped it and found this real nice 97 Damon. With the OBD2 you know if you will pass or not and if not you can find the problem area easy. If on a car with OBD the emission people just take your money and check the OBD, the cat and the gas cap and you are done. I just learned also that check engine lights have been around longer than OBD ports but Scangauge does list the 96 F53 as having a port to hook up to. I may have to call the Ford people monday as I am still hoping you may be wrong. thanks again for the imput.

Here is the answer I found by googling it....

the F53 chassis in 1997 was still running EEC IV engine control system due to the GVW of the vehicle exempting it from OBDII requirements. You'll find the EEC IV (DLC) connector on the passenger side near the starter relay. Location varies since coach builder may move it, but should be in that area.

Thanks Ronnie/Jan, I guess I don't know much about googling. I so wanted everyone to be wrong but looks as if I am going to be the one. I wanted to put on a Scangauge, glad I did not buy one. I had read that all vehicles 1996 and newer were required to be OBD2 compliant, not so huh. I will googleECC IV and see what I get. I had a car once that you could jumper certain wires together, watch and count the flashing lights to read codes, this is maybe what i'll get. My RV is parked about 20 miles from here in the desert so in a couple days I will check this location you mentioned in your reply. thanks again for the info.
