I'm asking this question here to get input for other Damon Outlaw owners in the hopes of getting make and model specific input.

I'm considering getting the Dish Networks Pay as you go plan and with that, the required hardware.

We tend to be happiest in wooded lots so this may drive me to a carryout on a tripod so hooking it to the MH is a question.

I have the cable connection located in the compartment with the power cable located towards the rear of the rig so I've been told that that is where I need to plug in the cable for the Satellite dish. It seems to me that since the power for the dish is fed through the cable that it's a very long run of cable considering that I'll also need a long coax to get the dish anywhere near the front of the RV.

Then there is the hooking up of the receiver. The natural location would be up front where the switch box and DVD player are but how does this happen? The cable in on the back of the switch box would have to be disconnected and reconnected to the sat receiver?

As you can see, this is all new to me so I'm hoping someone here has gone through this already. Could be I'm the first and will become the sole source of information for owners after me.

Ok here i go and hope you understand what I'm saying
I also did this mod and it works great.. I bought i think its called a diplexer for satellite installs from Fry's electronics its like a splitter but for satellite. i will double check later and let you know for sure... I then unhooked the cable from the back of the control box that feeds the switch box . I then installed the diplexer and then had 2 short cables and hooked one to the satellite box and then from satellite box to satellite in on the switch box and the other from the diplexer to cable in this way you can hook up to park cable if where you are staying has it.. I hope this helps i can draw a diagram and send it to you just PM me if you dont understand and i will look later in the coach to find out the exact name of the diplexer splitter thingy

I think I got it correctly. Can you look at this image and tell me if I'm correct?

This was a great help.
Did you have any issues with the length of the cable?
How long is your SAT to RV cable?

Thanks!

I've been looking closely at the tailgater myself as the reviews seem totally positive.

Can you describe how you connect everything?. I'm curious that since the tailgater gets its' power from just the coax if you are hooking in to yout internal RV coax in connection and going through the switch box. I would think there may be a power out to the dish issue.

'07 Damon Outlaw:

I bought it with a roof top Winegard RM-DM46 Satellite Antenna and I got a Vip 511 Dish Network w/ pay as you go. It works fine.

My question is about the wires. Above the drivers seat, I installed the Vip 511 to the coaxial cable. There's another cable for the elevation display pod...It all works well.

But, there's 2 other coaxial cables that come in to theatcabinette from the same place (far left corner) that don't connect to anything and they are not labeled. Does anyone else have cables in the cabinette above the drivers seat? Any idea what they could be?

Also, there's a coaxial cable TV style jack in the belly bin under the drivers seat. anyone know what that one is for?

There another jack I have tested in the electrical bin - it feeds the switch center for campground cable TV. And I have tested the one in the bin to the rear of the entry door - feeds the exterior TV.

I'm thinking that the jack in the bin under the drivers seat is connected to the extra wire in the cabinette for a remote dish like a tripod set-up for when the roof top dish in blocked...

Any opinions?

Mine has the jack but not the wires. I bailed on the SAT thing. Not enough bang for the buck for me. I replaced the Bat Wing with a Jack antenna and get enough TV to keep me entertained. Between that, the internet, DVD's and a 3 year old Springer, I have enough to keep me entertained. Oh yeah... the reason we bought a Toy Hauler... our motorcycle
