I have an '07 Daybreak I purchased new 2 years ago. When the Grandkid's aren't playing outside or horse showing in leadline they are watching Veggie Tales at Grandpa's MH.

I have found that the longer the DVD player is Playing, the longer it takes to recognise the DVD as a DVD.

I was just curious if anyone else has had a problem with the VCR / DVD player over heating?

So far my solution is to only run it with the door open and a fan in the compartment. I bought a little 5 inch fan, desigined like the larger round wire mesh enclosed fans that can be aimed up or down, that ought to do the job.

Anyone else having this problem?

I have a Tuscany with the satellite receiver, stereo receiver/dvd and satellite box all in the same small cabinet above the front passenger seat. The satellite receiver generates a lot of heat and I leave the cabinet door open when in use. I haven't figured out how to remedy the problem yet. Your idea of installing a fan is a good one. Damon probably should have vented the side(s) of the cabinets.

My "el cheapo entry level" Hurricane has a duct in the cabinet above the passenger seat where those devices reside. I leave the door open anytime the devices are used, usually if it's that hot outside I have AC on or the fan only running. There is a lot of heat buildup otherwise.

The overhead compartments get very hot. I fried one chunk of electronics and I added a fan, I've since added additional ventelation (Fan is a 4" computert type. I added several 4" air holes) on that side, guess I should do the other

Yes, opening doors is an option

You might also try replacing the "glass" in the door with something that will pass air.. AND I/R REMOTE CONTROL SIGNALS... I'm thinking of some very holey metal products

The duct inside would be great, I have a duct vent just outside but even with that aimed at the cabinet with the door open it still got hot.

So far the $5 dollar fan from Walmart seems to be doing the job.

I thought about cutting a hole in the cabinet, but to the front or right side would dirty the front curtain. Another option would be to remove the glass and stretch a cloth over the opening, that wound provide more ventilation.

Or I could cut a hole in either the top or bottom of the vcr/dvd cabinet and install a muffin fan.

Either of the last two options would provide the most efficient cooling, but would also entail the most labor.

What do you guys think?

Well.. a couple of years ago I got a box of 12 muffin fans for 10 bucks at Quartsite.

So you know how I did it
