House Batteries are dead
I have a 2006 Damon Challenger and am on day 8 of a trip where we are camping at a campground with 50amp service. I woke up this morning to notice that house lights and ceiling fans were showing signs of low battery and AC units had shut off, but all other electical outlets and tvs and such were working fine. I checked the battery level on the control panel and it was not showing any charge on the house batteries. I disconnected shore power and attempted to start the generator but it wouldn't even crank and the auxiallary switch did not help. I started the engine hoping that would charge the house batteries but it didn't seem to make a difference and after a couple of minutes when I went to check the battery levels, that whole panel is now dead. The connect/disconnect is now dead also with no clicking at all when flipping that switch. I assume that some of these issues are probably related to the house batteries being completely drained, but I'm trying to figure out why that happened. The converter is relatively new as are the batteries, both about 18 months olds. Is there a reset switch in the BCC? I can't find one. Any other ideas?
Thanks, Randy

Sounds like your converter/charger has quit or the AC supply voltage to it is not there. Have you checked the fuses/circuit breakers to the AC side of the converter/charger? Do you have a volt meter to check the output of the converter/charger? What brand/model is the converter/charger?

Do you have a way to check the campground 50 amp plug? Could be one leg of the supply is down. Try and turn the campground breaker off and on and see if that helps.

I don't have a voltmeter handy at the moment but have checked all of the circuit breakers inside the cabin. I will try to hook into the 30amp plug to see if the 50 is the problem. Not sure what converter I have, it was replaced about 18 months ago at CamperWorld. I thought there was some reset switch on the BCC but I can't find it. Was hoping someone would know where that might be located.

If all AC outlets and other appliances, other than A/C - they do require 12vdc also, are working then I doubt it has anything to do with the 50 amp circuit, but maybe. Walmart sells volt/ohm meters. It would be a good investment :-)

I think I found the problem. The plug in the electrical bay that connects to the converter was partially pulled out. Lights are back on but I still don't have any power to the status console. Not sure if that is just because the batteries are totally drained or if there might be another problem as a result of this one. I'm going to let things ride for now to see if the batteries will charge and if not then that's another problem. Thanks for the comments.

Howdy Randy,
Hope you've solved your problem!! Sounds like that plug may have vibrated loose and your batteries were charged enough that you didn't notice.. Good luck and happy camping!!!

Feels good when you fix one, doesn't it?
